I would like to add a another short bow (52"-54") to my stable, but I like "heavy" bows for their stability. In your adventures have any of you ever discovered a "heavy" shorter bow ???? Thanks for your help & as always...be safe !!! Des

It's kind of relative.
If you are looking at a custom have it made with a G-10 riser. As for factory bows I've never seen one that short I would consider to be heavy.

Find a Kodiak Magnum post 71 and get a short stabilizer for it. Works fine.

I have a beautiful little 52" Herter's Perfection. The riser is on the large size for a small bow but I wouldn't consider it heavy. It is 56 pounds at 28" though. >>>----> Ken

I’ve own around 30 52” and under bows . None of them I would consider heavy . A Wing Thunderbird with a phenolic riser may work for your needs.

GDS +1.
Really centers the bow mass into your hand. Also significantly deadens the thump at release.

My Black Widow HS-58. It’s the heaviest 58” bow ever built IMO.

I saw a Browning - maybe a Backpacker - that was 65 lbs. it was on the big auction site I think, and a fairly heavy DH there too. Sorry my retention isn’t very good lately,

In a one piece 52/54" you are not gonna find much thats got much mass in the riser.Yu would have to go with G-10 or something similar. That Wing Thunderbird above would be a good example.
Might look for a 13 inch aluminum ILF riser paired with some short limbs.
A heavier quiver with many arrows might get you more mass as well outside the actual bow.
The Stabilizer option listed above is a good recommendation.

I think you can get a gadget adaptor from Great Northern bowhunting?Seems I remember them selling something like that
I believe they strap onto the bow and you caan add a stabilizer or bowfishing reels etc.
So you would not have to drill a hole in your Shrew and install a bushing/insert for a stabilizer.
Take a look and see.

Kerry took the liberty to check GN Quiver website and the item is called the Traditional Gadget Adaptor.
Says its for bowfishing reels. It does strap on.Not sure if the threads fit your typical stabilizer. But it might.
Thier only 18$.

Wing Thunderbird... as earlier mentioned. Heavy Phenolic. There
Wing Presentation II takedown and short hunting limbs- I am not sure if they made an all phenolic shorty handle, but they did make some shorty handles that were phenolic and wood. I finally picked up one of the longer wood/phenoloc versions, it has a nice heft to it compared to the all wood version I have. I have a long all phenolic version and it is quite heavy. I think I have seen limbs for these down to 54" with short handles, you could check catalogs on vintage archery to verify. These are VERY nice bows to shoot, and the limbs are extraordinarily forgiving and smooth. Sort of hard to find though, you could look for a long time unless you got lucky.
I like the stabilizer or quiver suggestions as a simple way to get what you want, as long as it fits your interests.

I just recalled an example of a Wing Preso II shorty phenolic is on Ebay: "Wing Archery Collector's Presentation 2" at link below. Guy I have purchased a few wing items from, a good fellow. He wants a ton for it as a "signed" set. But goes to show the phenolic risers in shorty exist out there if you get interested.

There is a new material available i've been building risers from this last year that has very nice mass weight. It's called High density ChromaPly. This stuff adds significant mass weight to a riser, and provides a very strong, non flex riser.
check it out....
