I just recently traded a bow and received a 48# Black Widow on my end, it is a PSA V. I am trying to decide what direction to go to get my arrows around 515 grains. I am thinking a 400 spine Easton 6.5mm carbon arrow with a 50 grain brass insert and a 175 grain tip. I draw a little over 28”. I also know I can order a test kit and try different spines, but I am impatient and want to hunt with this thing. This probably sounds rookie but do you guys think this is close? I have been shooting the same setup for several years, as I’m a it works don’t change it guy. The setup I have been using is 55# with aluminum arrows, so I am unsure about the carbons.

Want to hear something crazy? I shoot full length 400s with 145 gr tips from all of my glass bows 42-51#, no brass or steel inserts. I draw about 29". Too stiff, I know. Horrible flight and loud as well.

If it was my dog in the fight….. I’d just stick with aluminum.

mine likes 2117 aluminums with 175 point

so would guess a 400 carbon wth standard inserts and 175 would work

My 45# SA likes Easton 400 Hexx, 20 gr. insert, 20 gr. nock and 100 gr. field or braadhead.

I have a 58inch PSAX 50# 28 - I draw a little less and shoot a 30 inch gold tip 400 with 50 gr insert and 150 tip

.400 is awful stiff for 48#. I’d be looking at .500

My plx at 47lb at 28 shoots my 400 gold tops with 125 tips like a dart. Course idraw 31 in arrow so maybe that's the difference
