Got this young 10 tonight. Used my new Northern Mist superior and home made cedar arrows and a wicked sharp Zwickey Eskimo. He ran 40 yards and fell over. Shot was 8 yards and I didn’t even hear the arrow hit him. For a second I thought I missed. Lol. Crappy pics but temps are so hot I was in a hurry to get him out and to the processor.

Thank you. Shot was at 7pm broadside at 19yd. Was lil bit back but perfect up and down. Was clean pass threw. Heard him stop at 40 or 50yd in woods and break few sticks. Then few minutes later he made a few grunt/growl sounds. I quietly got down and arrow had great looking blood. Waited till 11pm and was right where last heard him. Got lung and liver. Arrow Entered at 6 ribs from back and vertical cut. And exited 5 ribs back horizontal cut glanced off rib sticking arrow in dirt to the right. He was dead before I got down but wasn't taking a chance.

retirement hunting season number one. I have been hunting alot, infact so much this is the first time I have been on here in some time.

first harvest of the season was a rabbit, then a grouse.

Then I traveled to New Mexico to hunt with a cousin that has a guide service. Wow what a fun hunt, following is a link to his youtube channel where he posted a video of my hunt.

This is my first season seriously hunting with Wood arrows I made myself.

Soap Creek, though I am from the Deep South, this deer was taken last week in Kansas on public land. Test assured that what you hear about small deer is largely correct in my state. My Kentucky buck for the ‘21 season, shot at 5 yards after working a scrape, pretty exciting hunt, had a trail camera setup in front of my stand, was lucky enough it took a picture just a second before I made the shot. Last thought he had was “ holy cow that’s a big squirrel in that tree…….

I ran into a group of hogs feeding under a persimmon tree in a dry slough Well I was able to sneak into 18 yards of this one and my arrow flew true. It zipped through her so fast she didn’t know what happened! She spun and faced me and stood there for several seconds, I was thinking she might fall over right there but she wheeled and ran about 25 yards and went down.

This year was pretty good. I took a big doe early season, a big bear on the deer opener in VT, a young doe in October and a nice buck in November. 3 of the 4 were on film too.

Well I guess this finishes me off for the year. I could get 4 more but 2 is all we need. Got this one this afternoon with my Black Widow PCH 48@28, Goldtip 500 with 50 grain brass insert and 175 grain 3 blade VPA. Went about 75 yards after the shot, heard her crash and had a great blood trail. Thought I would never leave my Simmons Tiger sharks but really wanted to see what the VPA would do. Seems like both are great broad heads.

Sorry for the multiple pictures something went wrong for me when I sent that. The picture isn’t good but it’s a whole deer that’s my flashlight making it look like that. I had one buddy wonder if coyotes got it, they didn’t he only went 25 yards.

12-19-21 - first deer that I've taken with this bow; 60" original Schafer 1pc that I had Dave rebuild for me this spring after a limb delaminated; shot taken at about 15 yds, cedar arrow tipped with a 2-blade Zwicky Delta, she piled up at bottom of ravine within sight (about 60 yds).
