Anyone is ring the micro diameter arrows?

Thinking about trying out the Victory Vaps.

I am in the process of tuning 5mm axis shafts to a new bow. I have always used aluminum or wood. Bare shaft seem very nock high. Haven't got it figured out yet.

Yeah there has been a learning curve with all of them for me , hadn’t tried the micro arrows yet. But I’d like to build some with a high percentage FOC just to test out. I need something in the 7 gpi range.

I shoot victory vap elites with their half out inserts. Theyre what im hunting with this year.

I made up some cx xsd predators and love everything about them except the half outs.

I have 10-11 VAP 500 with the 50 grain outserts. I think 30”. Make you a great deal. Not saying I don’t like the skinny’s but only on my target bow. I used these last year and they flew like a dart. 50 gr outsert 175 Zwickey 2 bld. 46# OTF 28” draw. Never had a chance to at a deer though. Confident they would have done the job. i use black eagle instincts and love them.

What about 4 mm shafts micro type they go deep Centaur sells with outserts. Shoot and tune With a heavy point.

I don't think I am going to extreme foc 30"axis 8.9 grn. Per inch 175-220 up front 50 lb long bow roughly 520 total arrow weight depending on some unsolved variables.

What bow quivers have arrow grippers that will hold the micro instinct shafts. Ive been thinking about trying those shafts, but I want them to fit in a bow mounted quiver.

I have VAPs (V3s) in several sizes. Their biggest advantage in longer range target work is their very light weight, and to a lesser degree wind bucking ability. I've also shot ACEs and X10's. Compared to standard size aluminum arrows, the difference is way less than the manufacturers want you to believe, IMHO anyway.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to shoot them from a "trad" or hunting bow, but that's just me.

I shoot the .166" ID shafts with outserts. I will NEVER shoot a standard carbon arrow again. Never.

Most quiver grippers can be outfitted for micros using rubber bands. The 1s i used were the small black 1s in the womens hair brush/ hair ties section in walmart. These were used on a efa quiver for .166 and .204 shafts. The .166 shafts are outstanding for penetration on the 2 deer i killed this year with a 35# bow.

GN makes a gripper that will hold them perfectly as well.

I shoot 200gr heads and want to keep my arrow weight in the high 500gr to 650gr range, so with those 100gr outserts that's what I should end up at.

I've got one bow that I run 400 spine now and my other one is using 500 spine.

If they get you a bit closer to center might that be an advantage in tuning?

Kevin, I shoot full length Bloodsport Evidence 400s with outserts. With a 100 grain tip I'm about 510-515 if I remember right. The GT Kinetic is another great micro option, but they are a few grains per inch lighter than the Evidence.

I just bought some Victory/Valkyrie Reign arrows .166 ID .233 OD 30” arrows with 250 upfront, weigh 599. They fly like a bullet. I have Slo Mo video of my shots and All I see is rotation. No flopping for 20 yards trying to recover. And I was shocked the fist two arrows punched through a pretty new block target at only 48#

I will only use them with my Bushmen or Zipper w/Morrison limbs

One thing that doesn't come up much in trad is the benefit of rigs shot with a release, from dead center alignment with the string. For obvious reasons.

But doesn't is work out that to initiate beneficial archer's paradox you need some arrow offset, and you need it for finger release? Is there an unlimited benefit to thinner arrows?

I can see that if you could tune a longbow without centershot so that the arrow point offset was perfect, then it would shoot like a bow with centershot. Though you can pick up a lot by simply getting rid of the leather.

i've used them and love them. However parts and accessories for them are usually more expensive etc.

I use direct bond stainless steel inserts from Ethics Archery. It eliminates the broadhead adapter and outserts. The pic is VAP shaft with direct bond insert and double footing with a Tuffhead broadhead. Very strong structurally and out penetrates any arrow I've ever used.

Agree w Steve and others--- the small diameter sure doesn't hurt penetration--a good reason to hunt with them. I did find the micro diameter tuned as expected with it's center being a bit closer to the riser.

x2 rifleman way better penetration with the skinny shaft .thats all i shoot . why wouldn't you shoot them out of trad bow would be a better statement

Nope. All bringing the arrow center closer to center shot does is make you need a stiffer spine number.

Reading all these posts with all the mm #'s, micro's and grains makes me glad I can grab a wood arrow, go out and kill a deer. You guys threw the KISS system right out the window, lol

Valkyrie 250 field point with a 56 grain center point outsert. So 356 grains up front

2” Rayzer feather at the rear. the front directs this missile. 350 spine 48# bow 27” draw

Altitude, do you shoot Valkyrie broadheads? Very impressed with their system!/

I used 4mm fmj's this year and will be using victory vap along with the 4mm fmj next year. Went thru two deer like hot butter. Realy love micro diameter arrows use to use them Beemans along time ago. I have never found anything to out penetrate them. Widow

I shoot the Black Eagle Instincts and love them. The are super durable and great penetration.

Have any of you that are shooting the instincts with the 100gr Black Eagle outserts had any problems? Like breaking right behind the insert or having them come off in a target?

I used the Instinct arrows this past fall, and had no issues at all with them. But I used the Ethics Archery outsert system on them. The pentration I recieved from my 46 pound recurve was very impressive.

Victory VAP Elite shafts. Valkyrie Centerpin inserts, Valkyrie 125 gr adapters. Abowyer Wapiti 175 gr. 63# bow at my draw. I have never seen a cleaner-flying arrow out of a bow. They penetrate extraordinarily well...as evidenced a few months ago. I got through-and- through penetration on this very large bull at 23 yards.

I agree Kevin. The clean flight is something see. Far less time to stop oscillating after paradox. And the clean flight really helps penetration.
