I'm old school. I still wear a camo Jones style hat while bowhunting. Always have, always will. This will be my 65th bowhunting season.

Ding, ding, ding...we have a winner......Sagebrush, with JC a close runner-up. But I think that may be Ebola growing on it Sage. Might want to take a little Woolite and a brush to that thing, jus' sayin'. Here' mine: Disclaimer: Wear anything fuzzy at your own risk, hawks and owls get their undies all in a bunch...

Nothing like a good Moose Dulap hat for hunting. :)

I'm in the original Jones hat camp. I still use one that is more rag than hat, WW2 camo pattern, with no body left in it, but it has been on my head or in my pack every season since 1975. It's a luck thing.

I use to wear a Fred Bear style hat or an Aussie Outback hat when I was younger. Now days I wear my U.S. Army issued boonie hat or one of my bucket hats.

From: Nemophilist
Date: 26-Aug-21

One thing nice about the bucket and boonie hats is if you want to not wear it you can crunch it up and shove it in the cargo pocket of your pants.

Not sure what this hat is called, but Ive been wearing it for over 35 yrs, it has thinsulate and is pretty warm. Its worn out, so this year I bought a new one from 3Rivers, not sure it will be as nice, but I cant bring myself to throwing out the old one yet ;)

My beat up, should've hit the trash years ago, camo Pittsburgh Pirates hat. If I whistled for it, it would probably hop on my head before I left to go hunting or fishing ;)

I've even been know to wear a camo beanie hat over it when it gets cold just so I can have it on.

My father in law gave me a real nice camo military boonie hat a few years ago so I may have to get it out this season and break it in before my Pirate hat gives up the ghost.

From: RonG

I have at least 15 hats because I love them, I prefer Dan's for shooting, but for hunting no hats too many vines and blackberry bushes that will remove that hat in an instant plus a hat will block your overhead vision.

Without a hat you won't hit your head on anything.

I've told this story before. But, my favorite was a Jones style hat, wore it since I started in the late sixties. I had all my WI. Bowhunter pins on it. In the early eighties I was on a bear hunt near Ignace Ont. We were doing some walleye fishing on Sowden Lake when the hat blew off my head and sunk like a rock with all those pins on it. It was like losing an old friend. However, we all did shoot bears and caught a bunch of walleyes too.

From: Longtoke

I like those short wire brim hats like big sells. Most the time I prefer a bucket had for more sun protection on my ears. I have a camo under armor one that is well made and has a slightly wider brim than most.

If it’s cold I just use a stocking cap or a fur lined Bomber had if it’s super cold.
