I have a very nice Bear Tigercat , [email protected], that I got from my uncle. When I got it it had camo limb covers on it. They where put on the day it was bought. The serial number is KN21498. Can anyone tell me what is the year of manufacture? Thanks

KN-serial number prefix = 1970.

1970 was the only year the KN-serial number prefix was used for the Tigercat.

I've got Ser# KN21065 on a 58" 45# Tigercat also a 62" 28# Tigercat ser# 9N1120. Picked them up at the same estate sale along with a Howatt Century 21. I don't know the poundage on the Howatt but ser# ECY84369-69".

It was 58" in 1970 and 1971, and left the catalog after that.

My Bear rep, from back in the late 70's and early 80's said Bear made it 58" in 1970 because the Grizzly was 56" yet, and they wanted that 58" offering. In 1971 the Grizzly went back to 58" and then that was the last year for the 58" Tigercat.

bow-n-head. If it has a TG serial number prefix it was made in either 1977 or 1978. But it should be 56"amo. Only the 1970 model was 58"amo. 1964 to 1969 were 62"amo.

There was no Bear Tigercat in the 1971 catalog. No Bear Tigercats from 1971 to 1976.

Also the 1970 Tigercat had a KN-serial number prefix.

bow-n-head if it looks like this it's a 1977 or a 1978 Tigercat.

Yep, Frank is right as usual...should have double checked the catalogs. Anyway, that would make sense since the Grizzly went back to 58" in 1971. Henry Fulmer had that one wrong.

I've seen the 1977/1978 Bear Tigercats on the auction site a few times.
