Hello all,

I’ve been thinking about a Kohannah Kurve from Bob Rousello. Can anyone tell me any experience they have had with the bowyer and bow?

Thanks,

Ordered a bow from Bob some years ago and traveled to his shop to pick it up when finished. (I lived in Ohio at the time) Great guy to deal with and excellent craftsmanship. I only have experience with his longbows.

I have owned 2 of the Kurves and a few of his longbows. Nothing but good on the bow and Bowyer.

I had one of Bob's fine longbows but never one of his recurves. I have a buddy who has had a Kurve for some time and just got a new one recently. He is really happy with it. Bob has been around a long time and does excellent work. I have been considering a Kurve myself. Not that I need another bow, but, well, you know....:o) The economy needs to be stimulated. LOL

A buddy gave me a winning raffle ticket from a shoot we were at, in the early 90s for a custom Kohanna.. I was getting the bug to try making selfbows so I wanted a bow similar to what I was going to be shooting. I ordered a 64in. flatbow yew limbs and black walnut handle. I told him to leave the handle section plain, no shelf or handle cut in.. That was a first for him, he really didn't want to at first.. Still have it, is a great shooter..

You won't go wrong with a Kurve I've been shooting one since 1991 Has always been good to me

Had him build a youth bow for my son when he was 9 years old. He’s 39 now and still has the bow. A lot of other youths have shot it over the years.

Excellent bows!!!

I traded for one a few years ago. Excellent craftsmanship and flawless finish work. Unfortunately, at 65 pounds best I remember, it was too heavy for me. If it had been 10-15 pounds lighter, I’d still be shooting it.

Got one of his Wind Walkers, had it for many years, I can say he is a great guy and very good to deal with. Have a good friend with his curve and he loves it. Pappy

Has anyone been in touch with Bob about bows recently? Asking because I dealt with him a year or so ago, and he seemed kind of burdened or tired of the business. Caught him in a rough stretch maybe? I did really like the way my Fury shot for the brief time it lasted.

From: David Mitchell
Date: 15-Apr-20

I talked with him today. The auto plant where he works is shut down right now and he's caught up on bow orders it appears, so I did my duty to stimulate the economy and will have a new Kurve headed this ay soon. He sounded fine to me.

Bob is a great guy, does very good work and makes a really nice flatbow, Fury and Kurve. I've have all, and really like 'em!

From: 3Ditional

Bob makes a great bow. I have the 64" Kurve with bamboo limbs core, koa veneers, and Santos rosewood riser with no beads. When I called Bob to place my order, I told him I wanted the bamboo limbs with koa veneers but wasn't sure on the riser wood. Bob suggested the Santos rosewood to match the koa veneers. I agreed and very happy I did. You can see some pictures of the bow on his website.

IMO, you can't go wrong with a Kurve.

I never had any dealings with the bowyer but I shot a Kohannah Kurve that a friend had a few years ago and it was a nice shooting bows.

i have not shot any kohannah bows , but a 3 pc take down i bought a few years back from a club member at land o lakes bowman in Michigan. 2 sets of limbs 59@29 and 63@29. it is the quietest and smoothest of all my bows . Just love it Wish Bob was still making them

I just ordered a 62" longbow from Bob. $700 shipped with santos rosewood riser, bamboo core, quilted maple veneer on the back, and antler tips. He's got a 12 week turnaround right now. I can't wait!

I had a Kurve and shot a few deer with it. I wish I had never sold it.

I owned a kurve absolutely nothing to complain about. Beautiful bow shot extremely well. Sold it because it was only 42 lb didn't think it was heavy enough, now I'm kicking myself for moving it.

Its the only "50's" style bow i'll buy to replace my 57 kodiak when I retire it, shot a couple but never owned one.

If my 1958 Kodiak ever dies that Kurve looks like a great replacement.

I have a kurve... a dark cocobolo with stained red elm limbs. I love dark bows! Smooth and very quiet! 50# @28. It will be the last out of my stable.

Don't worry Chuck, I have a 58 that's to heavy for me these days.

From: CStyles

Steve mine is still going strong, but I'll keep that in mind. Lol

From: barebo2
Date: 13-Dec-24

I ordered a Kurve and it had a Ziricote riser and Sapelle limb veneers that were so highly figured it looked like they were moving. The build quality was top notch and the bow performed as well as you were able to shoot it. Smooth and quiet @ 47#.

The new owner loved it. Sorry I let it go.

From: barebo2

Just went back and searched my post about the bow. It came in at 50# not 47#. 64". Excellent bowyer.

My post was October 2010. Traded the Kurve for a Gharing "Non Typical". Both great bows and both gone. At 5 weeks from turning 69, it's hard to believe how many bows I've been through since my first in 1970. Had some beauties. Kurve was one of them.

Hat that's awesome what are the specs?<><

From: Hatrick Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

Hey Frank, it's 60" and 42# @ 28". Haven't shot it much yet. It's hunting season so I've been sticking to what I hunt with for now which are bows of my own making. When I did shoot it, it seemed to really like 45-50 woodies and I was very consistent with tight groups. Looking forward to sending more arrows through the Kohannah after the season.

I had lots of fun today, dusting off the 1993 Kohannah flatbow, stringing it up and launching arrows at the backyard target.

I bought it off the rack at Denton Hill 30 years ago from Bob, when we were both young men. a few years later, my brother ordered and bought one of Bob's Takedowns.

Bows bring back memories of great hunts and times spent with your best hunting buddies, who masquerade as sons, fathers, grandfathers and brothers.

This bows greatest hunt was during Christmas vacation, when I was visiting my parents in the Pocono mountains and a heavy snow storm was arrivng shortly. We drove from the Jersey shore to the mountains to visit and hunt.My yoiung sons were with my mom, while my Dad had dropped me off on the top of the mountain where I had a hang-on stand placed on the east side of a thick swamp that held snowshoe rabbits, deer and all sorts of wildlife.

As the wind from the west blew harder the snow began falling faster, a single line of deer headed out of the swamp, past my stand and as the last one went by,I had a ten yard shot. My own assembled 600 grain tapered ash arrow hit right where I was looking, and the whole line of march dashed forward disappearing in the tail of what was now a blizzard.

I climbed down and walked the mile back to the house. When I got there, my sons and brother got their snow gear on and we all piled into the back of my Dad's truck and went back up the montain.

We followed the trail that the deer wee last on, but the snow was piling up and no tracks or blood was visible. The deer trail was carved into the dormant blueberry bushes and scrub oaks and we stayed on it. Luckily we almost tripped ove a pile of snow with a very large mature doe that had expired just 75 yards from the shot scene.

The three boys are adults, now with grandkids of there own, and my mom and dad are together in heaven. We still talk about the great times and sleep over with the family during a mountain snowstorm. Bowhunting can make men out of little boys.

My oldest grandson is getting his first bow for Xmas.

Merry Christmas Bob Rousello! You make a fast, functioning work of art, that's bulletproof and so must you be!
