Who all shoots the CD archery WF series of bows? Particularly the 19”. Looks like a nice riser. How they feel on the shot? My experiance with aluminum ILF is they are petty loud and a bit harsh in the hand compared to wood or phenolic. Anyone use the 19 for a hunting rig? ~Wojo

From: George D. Stout Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 04-Apr-18

Wojo, I haven't tried those bows, but I have shot aluminum riser ILF bows...four different ones and none of them were harsh in the hand. Aluminum riser can convey sound more than wood, but that usually can be controlled as well. Also, finding the right combination of string material, tiller adjustment...brace height, etc., has a lot do do with a more quiet, well behaved bow. Odd as it may seem, I have not shot a wood riser ILF. Not yet anyway.

Great riser and I do hunt with mine. It is very well balanced and I find mine to be quiet.

From: mgerard Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

Never shot one or held one. Did some research on them, and it seems like a well thought out riser. I like the 19 over their other choices. Hope you get one and report on it. Good luck.

I am watching the Lancaster Barebow Classic now. Final round has a CD WF riser shooter. Man these guys are good! ~Wojo

Shoots itself. To heavy to hunt with but great target or form bow.

From: arrowchucker
Date: 04-Apr-18

I’ve had 3. The original WF25, a WFX25, and now a WFX25 lite. I sold the WF25 to finance the WFX25. It is heavy and it comes with 4 weights to make it heavier. It my target,3D bow, I don’t think I would take it hunting but I remember years back the old Jennings compounds weighed about the same. The WFX25 lite is a full pound lighter. Still has the optional weights come with it. All were very stable, easy to shoot bows. I like a long bow so 66-68” is fine with me. The WF 19 might be my next riser purchase. Arrowchucker out

You will not find a better nmade metal riser. They are a bit weighty but do shoot oh so well.

From: Sipsey River
Date: 04-Apr-18

I have been so tempted to buy a CD riser, but I am concerned about the weight and my old shoulders. I see them on the classifieds on other sites so regularly that is makes me think others have found them too heavy. If my shoulders were not so bad, I'd take the chance and buy one.

From: Clydebow
Date: 04-Apr-18

John, Try to hold Bobby Worthington's setup shoulder level for a few seconds and your shoulders will be upset with you!

From: Wojo14
Date: 04-Apr-18

Ya, for hunting a 3.5 pound 19” riser is pretty heavy...~Wojo

From: 01archer86

Im currently shooting the WF25X and extremely pleased with it. So pleased in fact Im getting a WF19 Stalker for hunting just to completely do away with that awkward get to know eachother stage near hunting season. I got to shoot Dewayne Martin's WF19 setup last year at the Tennessee Classic or the IBO World one of the 2 lol, anyway I was thoroughly impressed. I am really looking forward to getting mine together. I have a set of Border Hex 6-H shorts just itching for the hook up!

“I think it is cool that they are built right here in Pennsylvania“ My thoughts as well. I’d like to get one in my hands. ~Wojo

From: Mikolay87

I have a wf19 riser and it is my favorite bow. It is a little heavy but I am used to it now. I added felt to the limb pockets and have a 10 ring string with double silencers on it and it is very quiet. I have tradtech rc wood limbs on it and it is super smooth.

From: stykman
Date: 05-Apr-18

I have a WF25 up for sale at the moment. WAAAY too heavy for this old guy but it seems to be very well thought out and made. I recently picked up a 23" SF Forged and that one suits me just fine. About half the weight of the WF.

From: Wojo14
Date: 05-Apr-18

Heavy hand weigh usually equals more stability. However, there is a point where things can be too heavy. Each their own. I for one, dislike a very light bow. Hate em. My ILF hunting recurve riser, limbs and a weight is at 3.2 pounds. With no quiver. So with the WF19 at 3.4 pounds, I might like the tad bit more weight. ~Wojo

From: M.P.
Date: 05-Apr-18

When I bought a wf25 I thought it was too heavy because I always shot light bows.I almost sold it but the more I shot it the more I liked it. Now I own two of them. Real good risers and Calvin and Dewayne(the C and D of cd archery) will help you with any questions you have. Nice guys

From: Big Dog

My wife had one for a while that I played with a bit. It just sits in your hand period. If you are into metal risers you can't do any better. Regards

What is everyone running for brace height on their wf19's with medium limbs.

My tradtech rc woods like about 7.5 to 7.75. My black max limbs like about 8. Hoyt xtour's like 8.25 to 8.5.

From: DWinVA Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member

7.5” with Hoyt limbs for mine.

God Bless.

From: 01ARCHER86

The WF19 is one of the best all around risers you can get. Stable and accurate and well balanced. Dead in the hand and very tunable. Harmonics is not an issue. Tune it like you would any other bow and it will be quiet.

From: Jon Simoneau Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member

Mine likes an 8 inch brace with medium black max limbs.

From: Wayne Carver
Date: 27-Aug-19

The 19 is as close to the perfect ilf 3D/hunting riser made. Ive had the 25 and perfer the 19. I have owned tons of bows and am back to the wf19. Thank me later

I agree the wf19 is just about perfect.

UPDATE:

I HAVE OWNED FOR 2 YEARS NOW. ACTUALLY 2-19” RISERS. BEST BOW I SHOOT. HANDS DOWN! YES, ITS HEAVY, BUT ACCURATE AS HELL. SO I WILL TAKE THE ACCURACY AND CONFIDENCE OVER HEAVY. OI TOOK IT ON 2 BIG TRIP LAST YEAR AND HIKED MILES WITH IT IN MY HANDS THE WHOLE TIME! KILLED 3 DEER WITH IT SO FAR. AND WON A FEW SHOOTS.

CALVIN AND HIS WIFE ARE STAND UP PEOPLE AND I GOT TO REALLY KNOW THEM. I WILL BE A CD ARCHERY SHOOTER FOR LIFE. AND WITH UUKHA LIMBS,...WOW!

AS FOR BRACE HEIGHT, I FIND 8” WITH LONG LIMBS ID THE SWEET SPOT. I HAVE SOME SHORTS COMING. I WILL START IT AT 8 AS WELL. RUN A STRING THAT IS 3.5” SHORTER AND MERCURY ENDLESS LOOP.

Old thread I know . Been peiceing out and selling my wooden trad arsenal for a while @ a minor profit . Helping guys out and teaching them what little I know , etc . Anyhow I won't sell it , but I'am now down to just my Striker Classic Longbow 62" lenght 50#@ 28" . So today with some of the money from my other bows ordered a WF19 in OD green from CD Archery . I have owned and shot many ILF wooden bows . Never owned or shot and metal Trad riser bow .

I been strickley a wood guy , but hear on occasion horror stories about people haveing issues with there ILF wooden risers . I have read a bunch about WF risers and think I'am goin to like it .

I have a set of new Samick R3 60" {black} ILF limbs to try it with . Even have a string all ready for it with some GT trads 550.

Plan on hunting with it , any way my first ever metal riser .

Update from just a hunter and back yard shooter, no expert . Like I previously stated my first metal riser bow (WF19) . Long time trad guy . Luvin the WF19. Just been tinkering with it with Samick R3's carbon's shorts 60" . This thing deadly in rite bowman hands imo. Wish I would have bought the WF19 riser sooner . Don't let the little bit of extra weight scare you off . I'am no spring chicken and can handle it. Great finish on mine got the OD green . Down the road probably order the WF21 in burnt bronze another great hunting color and pretty. Just my 2cents! God bless! ......

" Update " ! ........ Still enjoying the heck out of my CD Archery WF19 . Only current rigg and riser I own . Sold all my wood bows and risers . Own three sets of ILF limbs I use with it . Nika N3's 68" 48# / Salinda BlackStone's 62" 45# and Buck Trail Elite's 64" 45# 's . I don't even use mine with so called high dollar limbs ' etc .

Just my thoughts : If the Lakota, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho tribes ETC , Were armed at the Lil BigHorn with the WF19's and WF21's , they would have taken out Custer and his men even quicker .

I don't have a chuckwagon in the CD Archery "races " etc . Speaking from what I personally truely like and enjoy . Said all this to say this luvin my WF19 . Probably order a WF21 soon . Like someone said once these risers are like the Glocks or Springfield XDM's of the metal riser world .

They function great . Tough son of a gun riser's ! BTW I'am almost 65 , no spring chicken . Respect and best regards and wishes to all ! Yes I like my risers like my "women " with some meat on the bone ! There now you all know it ! LOL .....

Love mine also. Best riser for me I have ever shot. Great people to deal with also.

I had & liked the WF19. I am now shooting the WF21. I like it even better.

From: B.T.

They remind me of the Hoyt target bows with the giant risers from the 70s. Those "horns" look like an Elephant Seals nose! They seem to shoot very well in spite of the looks.

From: Pinwheel
Date: 06-Feb-23

I find them to be a very good looking riser.

From: Doc Pain

Shot one with Uukha limbs for a couple years. Very solid riser. No handshock whatsoever. Great target riser. A little more weight than I wanted in a hunting riser. That’s why I sold mine.

From: addicted2bows
Date: 19-Feb-23

I currently have a 21 and a 25lite. Sold a 19 to buy the 21. I honestly regret moving to the 21. I haven't been able to tell a noticeable difference.

From: Vaquero 45
Date: 24-Feb-23

I have the WF19 , the other day recieved my 21 in burnt bronze . Not getting ride of either of mine . Been pairing my different limbs , string lenghts , braces , setting up in general .

When I'am done I box my riggs , tackle etc together . Along with notes from the practice sessions .

I feel confident hunting with either riser . When your rigg"s rite , those risers more accurate than me . I'am nearing 65 I don't knowtice the weight .

When I hit the field this year , I'am still taking the Stalker (WF19) . I don't have stock in the CD camp , but man oh man are those risers set up correctly " accurate " to say the least .

I just use mine for hunting , back yard tuneing up . BTW mine are paired with RJ Safari Tough tab or the AAE Elite cordovan tab . With either tab great results .

There U go BatMAN n StickBow Folks , My WF21 w/ W&W Black Elk limbs . Black Elk Limbs are excellent for price point $115 plus shipping charges . Really good limbs , might wanna try em no horse manure .

I threw in pic's to give a heads up to people that are not horse people . For instance these silver Elko NV spade / Vaquero / buckaroo / basin cowboy bits go for new between 500 to 1300 bucks depending on "makers " Heads up folks sometimes people don't know what they have @ flea markets , estates sales etc . Make sure the "cheek " parts are true silver and they will b marked on the inside . Careful theres also counterfeiters out there . A little research and your on your own . My apologies to thread starter , didnt mean to rant off original thread topic .

Unless you're concerned about getting every last fps out of your combo, go with mediums. They'll feel a bit smoother and may be easier to re-sell if you decide to upgrade.

Different choices and variety is really healthy for our single string passion. I own the WF19 a WF21 and currently expecting a WF25 xtreme with in a week . For my bow hunting passion there one of few risers that excite me . I'am no spring chicken either , have had my share of hospital visits etc . I got it bad for the CD offerings. I don't knowtice the little extra weight of these "APOCALYPSE NOW" risers . Iron sharpens Iron ! ....

Shoot straight enjoy what you choose .....

Surprised import of these risers are not soon banded (illegal). In some " countries " . Like most hand guns . Have no fear in the end We will fight for Ya's ! ........
