2 sets of limbs. I read that they used to be really popular Olympic bows back in the day. At first I thought it was a grey bow but when I cleaned the dust and fly poop off it turned smokey grey and black.

Yes, the Carrolls' bow were considered quite good in their day. I currently own two "Gentleman Jim" Specials. Their limbs were inter-changable with the classic Wing PII takedowns of the 1970s era (I own 8 of these babies). The Carroll limbs sometimes didn't have the Overlays on the limb tips. Other than that, they perform comprable with the Wing PII limbs. Hope this helps.... Shoot Straight, rare breed

I have a Gentleman Jim as well....the risers fit me perfectly and almost impossible to torque during the shot.

That is a really cool picture, do you have a larger jpeg that you could email to me? Very very interesting.

Put your mouse on the picture, then hold the control button down and move the roller on your mouse to enlarge it or make it smaller.

One of my favorite bows, I have about 6 of them. A really great grip on them, wish I could get a ILF rig with that grip.

I'm looking for a set of short limbs to trade for. I have 64" limbs (short riser) and would like 58" or 60". Mine are 45# and I would trade for same or a little heavier. PM me if interested.

Appears Bob Lewis was shooting a hook release in 1970 With a Carroll recurve I would call the Hook a traditional means of shooting a recurve bow. What would you call this means of shooting a traditional bow?

I would call it shooting a recurve bow with a release...or in competition language, he shoots unlimited. Lots of folks used them before compounds. Mel Stanislawski won many a tournament with his own design back in the 60's into the 70's. Not new by any means. As an aside, Max Hamilton was making and shooting plastic vanes in 1952. Most modern shooters have no clue what was available and used back in the days.
