early in 2017 I used an early SKY pre-TDX 17" riser, and 3 different sets of 38 pound longs, WINEX, SF Ultimate Pro, and Samick Extreme BFs - all at 46 pounds - using same arrow and string - and a clicker - at 28.25" DL - used 2 different arrows and recorded speeds - Lightspeed .500s at 310 grains and Beman ICS Hunter .400 at 410 grains - 10 shots each LIMB SET went - - - for 6.7gpp arrow (310 grains) - The averages are - - WINEX 208. SF UP 203. Samick BE-E 205. SINCE they all had speeds real close to each other, I only tested the 410s with E-BFs - it went - 199, 198, 195, 185, 190, 191, 192, 194, 192, 190. 410 grainers were 8.9 gpp, 310s were 6.7 gpp. all 3 great limbs, I still have some of each, today. I think a lot of folks miss out in not buying some of the used limbs that were TOP LIMBS in 2005-2010 time frame...they are still top limbs today.

Im still shooting my Samick BF Extreme limbs that I bought new around 2008/2009…not only are they good, I still haven’t found anything better. I have shot thousands of arrows through these limbs and they are indistinguishable from new. Samick makes a very good ILF limb.

Steve, what is the construction of these? Carbon, foam, glass, wood?

WW WInex used a honeyfoam core and carbon n glass lams. I think in recent ?5-6 years they have altered the WINEX recipe. SF Ultimate Pros used some KEVLAR in cores, and foam, and carbon. Samick Extreme BF used BAKELITE FOAM (the BF in name)and carbon.

When I got into ILF, John Demmer III was buying up all the used SF UP longs in the 30# range and used Winex were hot too.

You can get new high quality limbs, for the used prices of these older versions too.

I still have a set of BF Extremes. I traded my 45# Med. pair for long Trad Tech carbon wood limbs in 40#. They seem to be really nice too, a little easier to draw but same trajectory with lighter arrows.

Steve, Good thread. I have some old Hoyt Carbon Plus that don't seem to be to slouchy in the speed dept. They are carbon/foam also.
These are pretty old... so probably "styrafoam".
