Hello!

I picked up an antique "Parker" longbow, 64" AMO marked 140 under the grip (back face) setup for off-the-hand shooting with an inlaid brass strike plate face. It is a solid piece of wood with no laminations on the limbs or at the inside face of the handrest. I Strung it up with a fresh string of appropriate length and it measures 50# @ 28" with a brace height of 7.5"

Thank you!

Damian

Nice looking bow but if it is an all wood bow I would be getting the brace height down. Depending on where you are measuring from that's too high for an all wood bow 64" long in my house.

Will do! Thank you!

Solid hickory. It'll take a whipping. 6" brace is a solid starter. Go up a 1/4" at a time until it behaves.

Great Looking BOW, but my confuse? What is the "140" about? Join the FS and let us see it fling arrows? BLESSED BE

Sweet find. Is that the same company that made the great shotguns?

Nice find. Seems to be in good shooting condition.

I wonder if it had some type of arrow shelf wrapped, or taped on where the handle wrap is a different color?

Nice old bow. Handle and fades have that nice Jeff Durnell/ Eric Krewson flow to the lines.

Just guessing but how about January 1940 for the 140 ???

I have no ideas on the "140" but I like the Jan. 1940 educated guess! I've not been able to find any history on this bow but I can't wait to get the new slightly long bowstring to drop the brace height a little. I concurred that the brace was set too high with a slightly shorter string at 60.5"... More to follow when she's re-dressed and a nock point is added and arrow have been flung!

More likely the 140 represents a qty.

"More likely the 140 represents a qty."....that's my thinking as well.
