I hope everyone is doing well. Can the card scrapers that are used on making selfbows be sharpen? Thanks in advance.

Yes....hopefully Jeff, Pearl Drums or one of the guys that can explain the process will come along.

Thanks for the link. I'm trying to chase a ring and parts of the scraper is biting and some are not.

I was taught most of what that video shows - true up the edge then use a hard steel burnishing tool with the goal being to get a very fine burl along the edges. I wasn't taught to lap the edges but whatever it takes to get a consistent edge is good.

When I used them when building longrifles I would just take a screwdriver shaft and hold it at 90 degrees to the scraper and run it back and forth until I got a good burr.

Look up Rockler tools. This card scraper sharpener helped me loads tell i learned how to free hand it.

I just run a file down the scraper. You can burnish etc but the burr wears down pretty fast.

Some people just run it across a belt sander.

Easy to do, I can explain it on here but there are many YouTube videos that will show you a whole lot quicker.
