First let me say I am not a veteran. I tried to enlist in 1973 at 18. Because the war was winding down and my poor eyesight I was told it would be better for me to go to college. I make string silencers and try to sell them at the shoots I attend. I have 5 pair of flag themed silencers here that I plan to send a pair each to 5 veterans. I have written down 5 numbers. Just respond to this thread and if the number your response is matches one of my numbers I will pm you and mail you a set. This will end on Thursday April 25. Veterans only please. It's my way of saying thank you. John

Excellent gesture on your part. August 1964 to August 1968 United States Army Security Agency {The only MOS the Army had that required a four year commitment} and I took it, hook, line and sinker. But all in all things worked out.

I'm currently not in need of silencers but admire your work and thank you for the offer.

Resized and reposted for Two Flints.

What a great offering to Veterans. I make my own silencers, not as nice as yours.

Here I am waiting for a helicopter ride to the Cambodian Mountains way back in 1969.

Hey Ken, I think they would look good on your target bow or any bow. I would hope John "Crazyjjk" would not take offense that few veterans are stating they are wanting them. That's not the case. It is more likely any one of them (us) would be thrilled to have them, but us old (and not so old) veterans are gladly standing aside for the next guy or gal who might need or can use them more than us.

It's a kind of paying it forward thing. I've seen it several times. Call it pride or camaraderie or just helping the guy next to you. It is in no way any kind of statement about the silencers, only a vet's way of saying thanks to John and trying to help others in a small way.

The solution to this may be to have John just include everyone who has replied to this thread and draw the five. If someone truly doesn't or can't use them, just ask them to please find a vet or serviceman or woman they know who can, and pass it along.

Thanks again for your efforts on the silencers. It makes us proud. Even if we are too proud at times to take you up on your very generous and heartfelt offer. Thanks buddy.

I don't know anyone else's reason for declining. For myself, I have won a few times on these give aways, and don't want to be greedy. So I choose to not muddy the water by entering every time something comes up. Let everyone have a shot.

Murray

From: crazyjjk

I completely understand everyone's reason and right to choose to enter or not. Is it not what you enlisted for. To protect a rights to choose. I do not look at it as a snub of my gester. I again thank you all for your service. John

If all don't mind here I would like to end this give away today. I have 10 veterans here who opted in. Instead of doing the drawing awarding 5 winners I am just going to send a set of the silencers to each of them. The veterans who opted in are: Hot Hap Hap, Two Feathers, 11Bravo, fewfeathers, Longcruise, Straightshootin' Bownut, reb, YH2268, and BRIBOWI. If you all would PM me you address I will mail them out to you. Thanks to all of you, God Bless, John PS: My dad was a WWII vet an my son-in-law did a tour in Iraq and 2 in Afghanistan. I am proud of them both.

Yeah, many of us would pretty much have suspected that, Ken. Sometimes, in the name of brevity, we jump to conclusions. A pair would look great on your bow, and thanks for what you and all vets have done.

From: tradslinger

I didn't put in because I have plenty of string silencers and material. But, I totally appreciate the gesture and the thoughtfulness behind it all. Too many in this country take their freedom for granted, the cost has been great and still is great. My hat goes off for my many Brothers and Sisters from a DAV
