It’s a Rainy day here in Northern New Jersey. I can’t go out in the Yard and shoot that Bear Grizzly static tip I recently straightened out the limb tip on. So I’m looking over a hickory, stave I cut a few years ago. And wondering if possibly there’s a bow in there. All these self bow threads lately I think might of motivated me a little bit:) So what are you doing today?

Raining here also.

I'll practice some shooting in my indoor 20-yard basement range. Also, a good day to change all the batteries in all the smoke detectors.

awesome way to start the day! I have one that I started yesterday with the help of my granddaughter. I'm not sure I can pull it off, but the log has been cut and leaning up against a tree for 25 years.

Rainy day here as well.

Cleaning my garage work bench this morning and going over some fishing equipment in prep. for upcoming trout season.

My son has a lacrosse game at noon I'll be attending and hopefully it will quit raining this afternoon and I'll get to shoot outside.

Like Nemo, I will be using the basement range for some practice and setting up a new string on a Super Kodiak.

Bob, Now that does look like a challenge. Especially with all the moss growing on that log. Very cool having indoor shooting ranges. Especially on nasty weather days. I’ll probably organize some of my fishing stuff. Trout season is almost here. But first maybe a self bow layout. This stave is 72” and fairly straight. I’d like it to be 66” long. Should I count it to 66” now? Or wait and see how it tillers out at 72”? I’d like to hit around the 45# mark.

We will be heading over to the indoor range. We are range monitors this AM. If it’s not to crowded I will shoot the new BW . Gotta try it’s new arrows.

Don, if you want 66" n-t-n you could cut it to 68" now... I don't tiller them until I have them cut to length. The moss covered stave has some very deep checks in it, but I hope to get past most of them. It's probably the hardest wood I have ever tried to use a drawknife on.

Bob, that’s a puzzle piece. Just my style nowadays.

Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Young Eagles event at the Lago Vista Airport this morning.

We have 70'ish kids signed up to get an introduction to flying along with about 10 pilots volunteering their aircraft and their time to give these kids a ride.

I have 18 yds in my shop and can shoot anytime. I'm sorting and cleaning out stuff to give away at our localTrad shoot in April.

Bob, I think that the longer they sit outside like that, the harder that they get. My first Osage had been out on the ground for around 30 years and was a booger to split and draw on. it was also way short but it was Osage. I have been making flu flu's for 3 guys this morning. Also found a great young man to give another bow to, and he wanted a longbow so I am giving him my Bosen bow with DASS limbs at 42# @26". Also aluminum arrows and the set up. So, spending the day on that plus expecting an order to come in from 3Rivers today. Also have possibly a bow coming in to give to one of these men. pretty busy day for me plus a sunny warm one.

fdp, love that program and thanks for participating. Had my first ride in a small plane at a young eagles event when I was a boy. Inspired me to become an Air Force pilot.

I’m shooting slingshots this morning inside, weather is less than ideal.

Raining here too! I’m going to start another knife/sheath project for a friend. I just found out she likes knives so I’m going to surprise her with a 3” drop point. Good projects all around to keep us out of trouble! Lance

I had a 1/2 doz aluminum shafts to do. I put nocks on, cut shafts to length and glued inserts in. I just started fletching at 1:30, I normally let them set for about 30 minutes, so it time for another feather. I have 2 fletchers, so I can do 2 arrows at once. Local 3D shoot tomorrow.

I made shelves a few days ago for an antique armoire the wife bought, stained and sealed them early this morning. I just need that thing out of my shop! Then I spent some time cleaning the shop and working on a muzzleloader for my brother. He bought a muzz kit for his boy who passed away before he could complete it, now we're building it together. Was able to play guitar for a while now that the cut on my index finger has finally healed enough. Learning John Denver's Rocky Mountain High. Sharpened a few knives. Helped the wife put groceries away after she came back from her gathering adventure. Now I'm gonna go play the piano for a little while, then back out to the shop. But nothing as interesting as that hickory bow you're working on Don. Keep us posted.

Tomorrow I'll finish pruning and spraying my fruit trees.

Did up a dozen 2 fletch arrows. Goldtip ultralites 700 spine with a 5.4 gpi. Shooting outta a 35lb recurve. Man these things shoot cool. After seeing several 2 fletched threads i had to chase down that rabbit hole. And i like it.

Well, I had to go out to my Moms house and help my sister and wife get my moms house back in shape. She has spent the last month and a half in ICU and nursing home and now thank God she is back home! Had a very beautiful day! Then got home to find a long slim package on my porch with my silver lab laying beside it( good dawg)! Very sweet longbow in the tube. Went to the pasture and started cutting down thistles with it. She’s a shooter! Bushytail, you da man! ><> del
