What are your thoughts on the Baerskin hoodie. Anyone wearing them when hunting ? If so your likes & dislikes.

From: Phil Magistro

I have a hearing loss from shooting too may guns without protection at a young age. I've tried wearing a hoodie when hunting but many of them case a rustling noise, making it harder to hear. I prefer a good hat and an neck warmer.

Sorry to hear about hearing loss. I've been hearing good things about these hoodie's. Lots of pockets and wind protective material.

X2 what Phil posted.

I like to keep my ears open while hunting. That being said, they would probably help hearing better in front of you, but, hurt anything coming from behind. But, if they make you look good, that is all that matters!!! LOL.

I like to wear hoodies for hunting. I don't usually put the hood up but it's not because of my hearing being hampered. I have to turn my head more to see around me when I have a hood up and I don't like the extra movement.

The Baerskin hoodie looks like a pretty nice piece of gear. I have a Sitka Fanatic hoodie and it's been very good.

When i wear a hooded sweatshirt or jacket,I usually only use the hood in heavy rain or snow conditions. Otherwise the hood is down or tucked in if going through a brushy area.

"I like to wear hoodies for hunting.".....I've worn them for years and have them in different weights. Haven't used that one though.

Can't speak specifically to that jacket, but I tend to not wear hoods while hunting because they obstruct may peripheral vision. I either modify the hood or don/t wear it.

From: JusPassin

Not a fan, would only have a hood up under the most extreme of conditions.

I hate hoodies with a passion when hunting. Mostly because they limit my ability to turn my head to see to either side of me without turning my whole upper body.

I have a few jackets with hoodies on them, but I never use them. I don't care for anything impairing my vision or hearing.

From: Red Beastmaster

I like a hood and keep it pushed back some for better vision.

From: B.T.

I have an ASAT hoodie for hunting, the Bearfleece looks very nice, but it will get crazy burrs around here.

I like hoods, but the size and shape has a lot to do with that. Worn down mostly, as a wind protection, and I don't find that the right hood interferes with my vision. My hearing is deficient anyway. I haven't worn, or even seen, a Baerskin but would like to check one out.

I have a few Asbell garments with hoods. One is a vest, the other a pullover. Rarely use the hoods but it sure is nice when an unexpected rain/snowstorm hits. Have also used the hood as a sun visor for the side when in a tree stand.

I like hoods, especially when it's windy. I went to the BAERSKIN site and it looks like a good piece of gear.

I'm an Asbell wool pathfinder fan. With the hood down or tucked around my neck. Rabbit fur felt hat.

Personally, I don't like hoodies. I have one from Duluth I wear when it is raining, and while it is wonderfully rain-proof the hood is stiff and a pain when you want to wear a hat of any kind with the hood up or down. And who hunts without a hat?

Place me not in favor of hunting hoodies.

From: Lastmohecken

I never liked them, for any use, but that's just me. I am a hat and bandanna guy.

I like Asbell wool also great products, hot one of three hoodlums vests.

I wear them, but never pull the hoody part up. I use that part to keep the wind off my neck.

From: White Falcon
Date: 23-Mar-24

No, they pull out my hearing aids if I move my head around.

From: Dry Bones

I have not tried the new baerskin, but I do tend to shoot in a hoodie when it is slightly cool, but not cold, and like the hood option for days when the north wind has a bite. Biggest complaint is a lot of "hoodies" are made with excessive sized sleeve and chest material. Being a more lean body type this creates to much material under the arm and across the chest, which then tends to get into my bowstring. Bulky/bunchy sleaves are not a good idea. IF there was a brand who catered more to the leaner of folks it sure would be nice.

I liked the look of the Bearskin hoodie, but when I looked into it, I heard many complaints of it being a scam. That is, what you get isn't what's advertised. Buyer beware!

From: dnovo Professional Bowhunters Society - Qualified Member Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

Not. I have multiple hoodies for work but don't like them for hunting. A hood muffles sounds and requires too much movement to look around.

If its cool enough im never without my hoodie!

"What are your thoughts on the Baerskin hoodie. Anyone wearing them when hunting ? If so your likes & dislikes."

I like a hoodie when hunting but not the Baerskin, or at least the one I have. My preferred hoodie is a mid layer that has the fitted hood, and is not restrictive or blocks your vision. The baerskin hoodie I have is not fitted and can block your vision.

I just like the option to pull the hood up if it gets cold and windy.

If I am stationary, I can wear a neck gaitor which I like, but if I am moving they often become too hot and I sweat. A fitted hoodie works for me.

I wear a sitka Fanatic most the time. The hood fits without obstructing any view or hearing and has a built in facemask.
