Received a couple of these and was wondering if they are FF or not. Tag says High Performance, material is listed as M2.

M2 is probably Mercury 2. A high performance string. Mountain Muffler strings are very good!

So 57" string would probably fit a 60" bow(?)

Steve posts on here. Maybe he'll see this. Frank's correct about string material.

Yes it’s a “fast flight type” low stretch material. A 57” would be for a 60” longbow normally.does it have small loops?

It is marked recurve on the package, the ends are yarn wrapped, but the loops look pretty small. I'll try one on my 60" MOAB.

My one recurve that is 60" is a circa 1996 Big River Kodiak clone that is not recommended for FF.

M2 is Mercury 2. Highest grade of Dyneema available - sk99. 100% - not a blend. All my orders are built to actual measured string length needed - not a "rule of thumb" bastardized interpretation of the written AMO standard. If you tell me who the original customer was, I might have more detail in my order system. I have 1 bowyer customer who orders the same small loops for both his longbows and "supercurve" recurves.

MM's are excellent strings.I have one on my JD Berry Argos.I forget what material he used on mine but I'm sure it's not M2.I might have that info somewhere.I'll check later.MM site- https://mountainmufflerstrings.com

Name on info card is Jacob Chapman.

Wudstix - that was a phone order recently. 12 strand Mercury2 recurve string with dyneema end wraps and raw wool silencers. Top end loop should be about 1 5/8". Bottom 1 1/4".

Jacob didn't keep that bow long

They had wool wraps on the string above the loops, wool puffs and tied in nock points. I tried to use them on my MOAB, they fit, but are 3/4-1" too short. Brace height was 1 1/2" high. My Big River recurve 60" isn't recommended for FF. I'm not out much, so I'll hang on and who knows... Cleaning garage bow area I came across several new strings. Couple for the MOAB, couple for the recurve. Envelops addressed from a Bowyer who has passed, and one who is retired. A custom string, I did not remember 57 1/2" for a recurve.

My favorite string. Last forever!

How different is M2 from the original?
