A while back I was sharing messaging with a gentleman who had stained a fiberglass bow, but I lost his informatioin. I don't know if it is the same for everyone, but once my messages go a short period of time, they disappear forever. Anyway, if that person could post how he did it, I would be most appreciative. Thanks.

Hey Pat I know George Stout stained a Shakespeare Para bow. And it had like a really nice wood grain look to it after he stained it. That bow really came out nice. Not sure of the preparation work that he did before staining it though. And if anyone tried doing one after he did it. If anyone else on herestained an all fiberglass bow. Hopefully they will chime in.

You might be able to pull up George’s thread on staining his Para bow. But the pictures might be gone. And yes everybody’s messages work the same way as yours they disappear after a while.

Yes I did! I had a Paul Bunyan 100 that I stained and it came out great.
I roughed the whole bow with coarse sandpaper. Just enough for the stain to take hold. I used Minwax Antique Walnut. I gave it one good coat. I did not clear coat it, but some do.
When it dried, it looked like a darkened caribou antler! Several people expressed positive comments on how it looked like bone.

You can paint them also, and get a nice end result.

Couldn't find any antique walnut at walmart, but got some 'special walnut' and 'dark walnut'. The 'special' is a little bit lighter and will probably start with that.

Last night to stay in one of the bows. The lighter walnut stain kind of made it look more like caramel and I wasn’t wild about that so I added some dark walnut splotches to break up the outline. The bow on the left is what the bow on the right used to look like.

That looks awesome. I may have to take the paint off mine and stain it.

It literally took me about 10 minutes from start to finish. Not including the drying time, of course.
