How many bows do youenz have? Since a recent trade (thanks Don) I rearranged my bow stash and had them kinda lined up and actually counted them... I have 15 longbows and recurves (plus 3 sets of extra limbs, 2 kids compounds, and 3 kids fiberglass bows for a grand total of 20...8^)

My kids will probably sell them for $25 each at a yard sale...8^(((

21 bows now. Had 22 but gave one to Supernaut.

About two dozen longbows, several of which are now too heavy for me. Plus several grandkids’ bows and a couple of my wife’s and my first bows—Browning recurves nearly 60 years old.

From: Jim Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

Way too many!

17 trad bows with multiple sets of limbs and 3 compounds. this thread may prompt me to liquidate! hahaha

Around 20 - probably 10 more than I should.

From: Rooty

I don't count. No lies when asked. I truly don't know.

From: Ben

Around 25. I have cut back the last few years and sold and gave away 12-15.

From: crookedstix
Date: 15-Mar-24

My official count is "a dozen."

This includes 7 or 8 Howatts, 3 or 4 Groves, a few by Harry Drake, a couple-three Brownings, a few Pearsons, 2 by Todd Scherrinsky, a few FASCO's, a couple of Tice & Watts, and a bunch of one-offs by Jack Howard,Glenn St. Charles, Craig Potter,Bob Lee, Earl Hoyt,Ernie Root, and Wilson White.

From: M60gunner

Let’s see, 8 LB’s and recurves that count as one bow. Then there are a number of”ghost bows”, bows made up of various risers and limbs, Warf’s.

From: GregH

2 right now, but I'm sure that will increase in the future

From: Mtherlode

I get asked this alot , I seriously don't know due to the amount of vintage. Plus many project vintage that need refinishing. Just recently retired and will start selling some , plus will work on the project ones which is like a hobby within a hobby. Playing around with ILF barebow to boot .

From: BEARMAN Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

At one point over 75 in my near collection. Now I keep it under 50 since the wife has me on the one bow out, one bow in program. Mostly bears still, with 3 Predators and 1 Bob Lee.

From: Sasquatch73
Date: 15-Mar-24

About 30 mostly vintage..... some righty and some lefty as I can shoot both. Need to thin a few with "check engine" lights coming on. Adults kids have bunches of bows I gave them and wife would sell at lawn sale prices to get rid of them if I wasn't around. Not seeing a lot of buying except in the China Black Hunter world. Nice price point for good bows = new archers. The Collector World is dropping off with age.

From: Verdeburl
Date: 15-Mar-24

Only 3 now. All 3 piece take downs. A Bob Lee Signature with 2 sets of limbs—I don’t shoot it much anymore. My other two main bows are my Blacktails-a T2 Sitka, and a T2 VL. I have gotten a little older and only hunt when I feel like it. Im not a collector.

There was a time between recurves n longbows I had on loan from the Lord over 30 . I was strictly a wood guy . Nowadays I have a WF19/WF21 and the mighty WF25 XTREME risers . With four sets of ILF limbs . For me personally that was the best path . I do beyond enjoy the talk n pic's on here about the wood bows . Especially the self made stuff n Osage , arrow makers and glue on broadheads, etc .

7 altogether, my first Samick, one Black Bear Warf, one Predator, one Barebow setup, and 3 JV Outbacks.

I can't hardly believe it, for over thirty years, I only owned 2 recurves, a 60# Martin Hatfield Takedown (main hunting bow) and an old Bear Grizzly, my dad gave me when I was a teenager. And I only owned one longbow which I still have. It's an old 50# Dick Palmer.

But since I have gotten on this board, I now own 14 bows, all total. I have two Black Widow recurves, a Northern Mist longbow, two Frankin bows, A Black Hunter Takedown longbow, and the rest are Bears, with a couple of extra sets of limbs for my Bear Takedowns.

Currently, I am now shooting only my Northern Mist longbow. I have been hot and cold with this bow over the last several months. but I am starting to really like it, after I modified the grip, from a straight Classic grip, to a sort of dished grip. After I got it sanded down to where I was happy with it, I added a bicycle innertube grip back on it, and now I find it a lot more to my liking. I decided I would just shoot longbow class in 3D, coming up. So for now, I have hung up all of my other bows.

1 ASL, 2 recurves, 2 Target bows and my wife has a recurve. Had 40+ at one time, it seemed too much, so I got rid of what I didn't need and have kept it at 3-4 for the last 16-17 yrs.

At one time I had 53 but sold a bunch in the last 5 years. I am now down to less than 15 and most of them are going to go too. I am 67 and not married so when I go my daughter will not know what they are worth and she will have to mess with that. Most that I have now I made. From: Buzz
Date: 16-Mar-24

26, Sold my Root Kadet to a new shooter at the Club.

From: TradToTheBone
Date: 16-Mar-24

No Murph, it means you need a bigger house.

From: grizzly
Date: 16-Mar-24

I thought I was doing better at 51 but that is because I forgot the other 20 in the garage. So 71 lh recurves and longbows and 5 or 6 lh compounds. Its really irrelevant other than the shipping cost keep going up so parting with them online drives the price up but I should probably get started because my two daughters really want dad to sell his own bows. Guess I could always buy more guns? Better return.

From: GWS
Date: 16-Mar-24

My honest answere is "too many" as others have confessed. I believe in being honest with one's spouse, so I don't count them. When she ask I can honestly say "I don't know" so far she hasn't pursued further questions

From: Murph

From: Stumpkiller

14 recurves and one longbow. I'd say about normal.

From: tnlonghunter
Date: 17-Mar-24

One - Bear TD with 2 pair of limbs. I've had as many as three at once, though!! Can you believe it?

It's not that I don't want MORE bows, it's that I end up not wanting OTHER bows. I've gone through a good handful of other bows since getting the TD, but every time I do I'm just mildly to very disappointed and just would rather be shooting the TD. So, I figure why keep stuff that's not satisfying?

From: Wapiti - - M. S. Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

10 total 7 recurves & 3 longbows.

From: Bjrogg

I really don’t know. I think around 60 or 70. Guessing that’s probably on the conservative side.

All Selfbows. Mostly made by me but I seven from other bowyer friends.

I’m building up a retirement portfolio. Either that or a bunch of stuff for my kids to get rid of.

I just like making them as much as shooting them

Cheapest hobby by far that I have delved into. They don't need to be fed. They don't need to be watered. They don't need a sitter. They don't need a license. They don't need a checkup. Don't require gasoline. No entry fees to participate. No parts to replace. They Appreciate in value over time if bought right. Cost me nothing more than the initial investment.

My son visited my bow room and noticed their numbers have grown considerably since he last updated the inventory. I leave the record keeping and counting to him but somewhere north of 200. I buy what I like at a price I am comfortable with. The memories of how each bow came to be mine (for a while anyway ) is what I enjoy every time I pick one of them up and launch a few arrows. They will all be someone else's some day but today they are mine and I enjoy every one of them. Good Day

Good day! Saw your post Sandy!

A little over 100 right now…all set up and ready to shoot.

I have owned at least that many more that I moved on as they did not pass muster.

I am actually taking a couple out to shoot after I post this…

I note that crookedstix ( Mr. Hardy) must be into the Bushmills’ early as he fessed up to being well over his official “dozen”! LOL! He does have some real rare birds and beautiful bows.

I kinda think there are not a lot of people here up north’ of the 49th that have that large a collection as I have amassed.

Good news is I am going to move a bunch along in the next few months…

A number that, if I gave away a dozen and sold a dozen, would still leave my rack double-parked and bows under beds, on top gun cabinets. Kinda silly. I could pick out a half dozen that I'm partial to and not miss the others.

Pdiddly2 - Trying to view your bows hanging on pegs, do you just nock the bottom string and hang the top over the peg? How does the bottom string loop stay secure on the bottom nock, does it stay secure or do you hold it with a rubber band or something? ... Thanks...

5 recurves, one semi recurve, and a single well built longbow. If you add the others, I have a couple compounds stashed away (where I started archery) and we have one Xbow in the house. Nope not ashamed and don't care about other's opinion. My son was able to tote that thing and started his hunting journey with me earlier on thanks to that little invention. I would like to rid myself of one SuperK but I don't intend on just giving it away either. As Jimmy stated. People don't want to pay to for them with so many cheapy's available.

Mortis, I think that's the VERY early Howatt bow that I sold Peter to serve as the early bookend for his Howatt collection. It's pretty special--in addition to being his birth year bow (1953 I think), it's from when Damon Howatt was first beginning to tinker with recurves and limb backings. Even Larry Hatfield commented that it was a real find...but I'll let Peter tell the rest of the story. I think there's a thread on it from about 6 or so years ago...
