Planning on being there this year. I will text you Randy to see if you need help setting up again.

From: Bearcurve59
Date: 06-Jan-24

I'm gonna try to make it, but it's long drive for me, have to wait and see. Hopefully!

From: r.grider
Date: 06-Jan-24

One reason we went to a 4 day shoot, if it is as we say in Kentucky “a fur piece” it makes a little more worthwhile. Fear not, all amenities, groceries, gas, motels, wal mart, are within 5 miles of the shoot, in Harrodsburg, and Danville has even more, around 15 miles away.

From: Carpdaddy
Date: 09-Jan-24

Always a great shoot and enjoyable atmosphere. Worth the drive every time!

I haven't been to a bow shoot of any kind in years. I may come over and give it try, although I'm not much in competing. Will they let you shoot the course just for fun and to test your skills at this event? Would love to give it a try.

From: Bearcurve59
Date: 15-Feb-24

Yes they will sammyg, I went to one last year, my first ever 3d of any kind. Had a really good time, great people and course! Gonna try make it but it's long drive for me, don't know till then?

Hey archers, it's only 43 day until TRADFEST.

From: r.grider

Sammyg, most people just shoot for fun, and at a cut rate. Come have fun.

Resized Flyer.

From: Stick Hippie
Date: 06-Mar-24

Lord willing this will be our first year at tradfest, I was invited years ago by Wayne Wallen but wasn’t traveling to shoots at that time. Can’t wait to go this year

From: r.grider
Date: 06-Mar-24

One thing not mentioned on the flyer, those wishing to camp may arrive on wednesday and setup camp, as well as vendors. We always allow a day before activities begin. So, those distant travelers can potentially have from wednesday through sunday !

From: THarris
Date: 07-Mar-24

Outstanding event, put on and hosted by great folks.

Terry Harris

From: Straight as wood
Date: 16-Mar-24

Great turnout for the workday. Thanks to all the folks getting the course ready for Trad Fest. Hauling rock, cutting trees, cutting and hauling firewood and building bridges. It’s going to good one.

From: r.grider
Date: 18-Mar-24

We have 2 fine bridges now, 8 ft wide with handrails, and a good start on the campfire wood. The course will be set a bit differently this year, but it will be to everyones advantage.

From: Stick Hippie
Date: 18-Mar-24

Can’t wait, it will be our first trip up there

Something pretty cool, ran into a guy at the Buck Hollow shoot last month, he was a KTBA member back in the day, showed me his patch that has been on his quiver from back in the ‘80’s. Snapped this pic and we are having these reproduced !

From: r.grider

I will be setting up again to sell club t-shirts, and a few personal itemsunder the clubhouse porch roof. One thing i will bring is wild turkey feathers gifted to me by many friends that turkey hunt. Im looking for someone willing to process them for the left wing, and me get the right wing. My half can be returned full length as i chop my own. Anyone intrested stop by and see me.will also have hunting clothes, holsters, deer stands, many things i just no longer need Stop by for a shirt and check out the goods.

From: r.grider
Date: 23-Mar-24

Who would be capable, and willing to get some drone footage of tradfest? Preferably at the peak of the event, say around Saturday afternoon, so folks can see the turnout. I have a cheap drone, but lack the ability.

From: r.grider
Date: 24-Mar-24

Got a call from Teresa Asbell, seems she is coming to Tradfest as a vendor this year, so anyone wanting some of her fine wool products, here is your chance.

From: Straight as wood
Date: 25-Mar-24

And for you history buffs coming to TradFest: Old Fort Harrod is right in Harrodsburg. Full scale replica of the fort built in 1774. Very informative tour. Also, down the road is the Perryville Battlefield, part of the western campaign of the Civil War.

Safe journey.

From: r.grider
Date: 25-Mar-24

And while you are at ft Harrod check out the unofficial champion Osage Orange tree in front of the fort. Take a look and just try and decide how many bows its huge limbs would make. And yes, Perryville Battlefield is something to see.

From: Clydebow
Date: 26-Mar-24

Guess I'd better put the battery and gas bottles back on the camper and check everything!

From: BJN
Date: 27-Mar-24

We're a week away. Extended forecast predicts no rain until Sunday. 50's and 60's daytime, mid 40's night through out....but Redbuds are in bloom and it is Kentucky so subject to change.

From: r.grider
Date: 27-Mar-24

Glad the redbuds are blooming, just so Jake can see those “purple trees” ??

From: Straight as wood
Date: 29-Mar-24

A friendly reminder: Kids with NASP bows are welcome. Tons more fun shooting 3d than paper targets in the gym. Plus all the fresh air!

From: r.grider
Date: 30-Mar-24

For those that dont like to camp, harrodsburg has 3 moderately priced motels, and a couple higher end options, nearby danville has many. Beaumont Inn in Harrodsburg is high end, but a really neat place, an old womens college from back in the early to mid 1800’s a beatifull mansion with a tavern and fine dining. Also with 10 miles of the shoot is shakertown, a restored shaker village from the early 1800’s, located on a beautifull 3,000 acre farm.

From: David Mitchell
Date: 30-Mar-24

Most are booked up. The Clarion Point in Harrodsburg has a large block of rooms reserved by some group.

From: Straight as wood
Date: 31-Mar-24

Set the targets yesterday and there’s something for everyone. That smoker round will be smokin’! Thanks to all the folks who pitched in. All the camping areas are looking good and the firewood is piling up.

By the way, if you’ve got a friend that’s expressed an interest in archery, this shoot is the perfect opportunity. Bring them along. They can shoot all weekend, try lots of different bows and meet some really terrific folks.

Safe journey.

From: r.grider
Date: 31-Mar-24

David Mitchelll, did you try Bright Leaf Golf Course ? They have a lot of rooms. If they are full danville has a slew of motels

From: Carpdaddy
Date: 31-Mar-24

Looking forward to it as always. Great event! I’ll be checking all the food items for quality.

I sure 2anted to make it, spend 2 days there actually, see & shoot to my hearts content! But I had wait till last to decide, and if we'd had a pretty spring day on Thursday and Friday, I could've done it, but the weather today, I'd been done for most likely because my breathing! Cold and rainy cuts my ability to last in half, but tomorrow I'd probably been ok, make it most day. Today, I'd had to leave early most likely, my breathing most likely restricted?? So why drive to turn out disappointed! But I'll try make the may or june shoots, or more? Best to all and post plenty pics everyone of the great event!

Bringing one of my Grandsons out this weekend for a shot at Bigfoot!

From: r.grider
Date: 05-Apr-24

These dang bigfoots (bigfeet?) are killing all the deer !

From: r.grider
Date: 06-Apr-24

Just so everyone knows, the last target on smoker round is a steel buck. If you hit the kill, your fine , if not…… We had an unhappy customer yesterday about us not having a warning sign for that. Im sorry, its called ‘smoker round’ and ‘ironman’ for a reason. Best advice i have is either dont shoot the target, dont shoot the course, or dont shoot an heirloom arrow, if you are afraid of breaking an arrow.

From: THarris
Date: 06-Apr-24

Randy, don't let the small things like that bother you, we should all be adults here.

Y'all do an outstanding job my friend.

Not bothering me. Just putting out a warning

If only one or two complaints you’re doing good. Should be obvious clue if you see a target with a hole cut out of it.

From: Straight as wood

Some great pics of TradFest on the KTBA Facebook page. Looks like a good time was had by all. Safe journey and please come to the remaining shoots on the schedule this year.

From: Clydebow
Date: 07-Apr-24

I always keep a couple pig arrows for us so we don't use good ones.

From: Jack Whitmrie jr
Date: 07-Apr-24

This was my first KY Trad Fest, I hope it is not my last. Loved the smoker round. The courses were set up great. Pat yourself on the back guys/gals you did an excellent job!

From: r.grider
Date: 09-Apr-24

I want to apologize for the porta john location, for whatever reason the guy put them in a very unhandy location. Next year we will get him to move towards the big tent, and scatter a couple up the driveway so one is always closeby, we may add a couple as well

From: r.grider
Date: 09-Apr-24

The porta johns is the only real complaint that i got, also should have put signage up to divert those away from the old course entrance down in the bottom. I do like the new course layouts better where everything starts at the bridge.

Ya Porta Jons are always a problem, they stink no matter what, some it bothers and some understand it a porta jon. Sorry I missed it, just had some things going on but some of our guys went and said it was a great shoot and well set up and ran. Pappy

From: r.grider
Date: 10-Apr-24

Thankyou Pappy ! Coming from you, or any of your guys is always a respected review. I have knee replacement surgery this friday, so, as bad as i hate it, i cant make your shoot this year. And thats a bummer, because it is my favorite.
