Is this event usually wall-to-wall people?

From: THarris
Date: 12-Jan-24

There has been over 500 participants for several years, then bad weather, COVID hit and too the attendance down.

We had approximately 400 last year, so the attendance is certainly picking up.

I truly believe the 20th anniversary will be an outstanding event.

Again, there are plenty of outstanding campsites available. If you get to the Park after hours, the Park Ranger can help you out. If you don't see the Ranger, set up and camp, then go to the Tannehill General Store in the morning and take care of your camping.

Folks, the Tannehill General Store burned to the ground this past Tuesday night, Feb. 27th, 2024.

This building was over 120 years old and was certainly part of Alabama's history.

I know something will ultimately be built in it's place, but the historic value can never be replaced..

I hope we have a great turn out at this year's Howard Hill Classic to help.

I don't know, but surely all structures because of their historic value are insured.

Many of you may not know this, but Tannehill & Brierfield state Parks don't get funded like other Parks in Alabama. I've never understood why.

We all know much of history is trying to be erased on purpose, but I really feel this was a tragic accident.

Hope y'all can make it.

If I was to get there Wednesday afternoon, Do you think I will have trouble getting a campsite for a small 14ft trailer?

From: THarris
Date: 11-Apr-24

I don't think so, there's plenty of camping areas close to where the Registration area is, and if not there, down along the stream as you cross into Farley Field.

Still very close.

Terry Harris

From: r.grider

Is there a cost for primitive camping? Im hoping i will be in shape to be there, getting knee replacement tomorrow

From: THarris
Date: 11-Apr-24

I am afraid there is a camping fee for primitive camping my friend. Being a State Park, and Tannehill gets no funding FROM the State (GO FIGURE, RIGHT?!).

It's not much and there are plenty of the Park's amminities you can use like, bathhouses, 3 of them, a laundry (just in case), etc.

Let me know how your knee surgery goes.
