When refinishing a bow using a poly wipe-on is there an "ideal" temperature needed for optimal results?

I would say follow the poly manufacturer recommendations on the can.

Usually, the can will give you the upper and lower limits, and you just need to compensate a bit for warm end/cool end/ humidity, etc.

I don’t think they specify “ideal” because these products are so frequently used in areas without great climate control because of the need for adequate ventilation. Water-based poly is probably among the safest for indoor use, and I would expect that average drying times are based on 70 F/20 C…. STP….

I suggest 65 plus and as low humidity as possible. It'll dry at lesser temps. But, takes much, much longer. I use a ton of wipe on and spray on poly, my advice comes from many gallons of experience :)

@Pearly - ever run into issues with very low humidity? Like maybe less self-leveling or anything? Slow is frustrating when you’re in a hurry, but I haven’t run into any real issues from higher humidity.

Yet.

Never had that problem during winter when its 30-35% RH. The Minwax Wipe On will dry in a few hours in decent conditions. Poor conditions will take a day between coats.
