What’s the cost for the self bow challenge at Twin Oaks? Is there a specific start time?

Thanks

I might be corrected but here goes. You go to twin oaks on say Thursday bring a stave or buy one there. Build the bow with help if you need it and shoot the bow for score on Saturday. Thats pretty much it.

Thx, but also wanted to know the ballpark figure on the stave.

$50-150 depending on what you buy and who you buy it from.

The Twin Oaks guys have always stocked up on hickory staves to sell prior to the Classic, I don't know what they sell for.

It would be best if you rounded up a stave now and worked it down to a bow blank so it can be nice and dry before the Classic.

Back when Mike McGuire was selling staves at the Classic, he would have them for sale from $10 to $100 depending on the size, straightness and quality.

Mike's staves back in the day.

Interesting. I read an article several years back where these guys decided to see how fast they could produce a working self bow. I think they were shooting in an hour or so.

Thanks Guys, yall about covered it, it cost 30.00 to register just like any other class you register for at the Classic, we use to not let you start until Thursday but now you can start when ever you arrive , you can have a roughed out stave but can't have nocks cut or tillered until you get registered, then when finished you shoot the course for score if you like for a separate set of awards.Their is always wood to be traded for our buy and it varies in cost, if you have you own wood 30 is all it cost. It's a lot of fun to watch, many come early now because the shop gets really busy as the week moves on, last year their was over 70 bows built over the week. Pappy
