From a couple years ago. I was scouting in the spring and found this little deer.

Grizz, do you run an animal rehab center? I think I remember you mentioning it before.
Those baby skunks are cute little stinkers :)

Nice. White Falcon, it took me just another second to “see” what I was looking at.

JR thanks.
Jeff, yes, my wife and I take in orphaned and injured wild animals. Yes we’re licensed. The goal is to release back to the wild and educate people to stay out of nature’s way. Some instances are unavoidable but many are completely avoidable. As sportsmen we know that nature takes care of her own, sometimes it’s not pretty. Hopefully, someday, rehabers will no longer be needed.

Nice Grizz. It must keep you busy. Since those critters can't thank you proper I'll do it for them. Big thanks to you and your wife for all of your work.

Saw some spotted fawns in Indiana several years back running with Mama and almost as big as her. Good healthy body weights in Vigo county.

Not the same thing, don’t have a picture, but I found a raccoon trapped in a dumpster over at the school bus parking lot. Someone left the cover open and I assume Rocky went in for a snack and couldn’t get out.
Called my wife and she brought over a fence slat.
I put the slat in at an ankle and stirred Rocky up with my walking stick.
Rocky lunged for the slat, went up it like a rocket, leaped off the dumpster, and raced around it toward the trees.
I happened to be on that side of the dumpster but quickly scuttled out of the raccoon’s way and watched him sprint into the trees.

Back in the working days, I once called the Humane shelter for a raccoon that got in the company dumpster. I don't remember what the person suggested to allow the raccoon to climb out but it would have been useless. Brought out a small 6 foot aluminum ladder that worked. No more calls to the Humane shelter. GRRRR!

Yes, my first call was to animal control. Got a recording that they don’t work after hours or weekends.
Just as well, I was concerned with how they’d treat the raccoon. The slat was my wife’s idea.
