“It is the Soldier, not the minister Who has given us freedom of religion. It is the Soldier, not the reporter Who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the Soldier, not the poet Who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer Who has given us freedom to protest.
It is the Soldier, not the lawyer Who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the Soldier, not the politician Who has given us the right to vote.
It is the Soldier who salutes the flag, Who serves beneath the flag, And whose coffin is draped by the flag, Who allows the protester to burn the flag.”
Amen tradmt, Thanks to all who served or lost family & friends in defense of freedom and this great nation, and especially God for allowing us to be born, raised, or live here! My Grandpa in WW1 US Army, my Dad in WWII USMC, landed on Saipan day1 and other engagements, and my Brother USMC killed 11/9/67 near Hue City Vietnam!
I am a Vet and proud of it. plus, 27 years ago, survived a ruptured brain aneurysm this weekend. Walk thru a VA hospital and you will see the many faces of the Vets that have served this country. You will also see some of the costs of doing it. This country has been built and protected by the blood of many men and women. Our Founding Fathers thought that it was worth it and so do a lot of us. Some have paid dearly and some are still paying for it.
Thanks everyone, for keeping it in perspective. My wife and I just returned from the cemetery and this was the first thread I pulled up. It means a lot.
A Memorial Day Continuing Promise...I'd like to respectfully introduce you to #728...17 years ago, with my family, we visited Gettysburg. Among the rows of numbered rocks at Gettysburg, #728 caught my eye-along with something else, an instant bond happened, don't know why or how BUT #728 profoundly changed my life that day. I assume that #728 loved life, freedom and family enough to give his life for it...and just guessing...at a young age. The shorted opportunities, experience, dreams he gave up, so I could have mine...no words can express my gratitude, same goes for those unknown, untold thousands since time, who fight/fought for what's right...God- Freedom-Family...I promised #728 that I wouldn't let him be forgotten...
this is the 17th year of that promise. I look forward to shaking his, along with the other Heros hands one day...right after I hug my Grandpa...
All truth and well said by all! And I hope we all stand in the presence of our Lord not to far ahead, and share in a special story that may center around #728, something to this I have no doubt! Thanks to all!
My cousin Bob was seriously wounded in Viet Nam. Not a KIA...I think often about his service and those who were listed KIA. This afternoon I spent time in a cemetary where I know men were buried for the service of our country..Im not ashamed to say I cried. Lest we forget...bye for now
God Bless each and every one who served and still serves today. A special Thanks to those that gave their lives for our Freedom you are never forgotten.

"The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph." Thomas Paine, The American Crisis.
Thank you to all patriots who have served and defended this nation. God bless each and every single one of you. A swift end to all of America's enemies, foreign and domestic! Cheers everyone, let us celebrate this beautiful day!
Can’t believe how long it’s been already, feels like just yesterday we were drinking a beer and talking about how much we were looking forward to being deployed together. In these three years I’ve become a father and lived a life I know you wanted for yourself. I’m so sorry brother, I’ll take good care of Megan for you and rest easy.
