This seriously underrated Memorial Day weekend shoot is almost upon us. Friday through mid-day Monday. Four courses/ranges with 70+ Rinehart targets, a great kitchen staff that offers a variety of foods, a facility that looks like a golf course and free camping! And all this at a reasonable price. Located in south central PA not too far north of Hagerstown, MD and just west of I-81.

The SW corner of the state will be well represented.

The Manly Mountain Men of the SW corner will be represented as well.

Bob, it looks like fri-sun for me. See ya.

We attended last year. Definitely very underrated! Honestly, it is better than some of the shoots that a handful of posters on here talk about. Plus, plenty of history in the area to explore.

Is Cookie Goetz still a member of the Greencastle club?

From: hawkeye in PA
Date: 23-May-23

Yes Mr Peake. He showed up last year with pictures and then brought more back later. He had pictures of you, Everette, Bob and Larue Bruce, Bud Fowkes and many more that I'm not recalling right now. Was a good time looking through the albums. Hope to see him again.

I think this is a better shoot than Baltimore.

Much better than Baltimore. Just no vendors. They have room there for a great big trad shoot but they have no interest in it I am told.

I’ll be there all weekend with my youngsters. Hopefully the pollen stays at bay this year! ;)

I knew Cookie Goetz, even shot with him once or twice, wasn't in this century though. I shot fields and hunters there at Conococheague back in the 70's, a state target shoot as well. Nice club for sure.

I am trying to get up there Sunday afternoon. Have a compound bud I am "converting". Going to try to bring my 10 year old and his friend also to drag them away from the electronics LOL!

Truck is packed. I haven't camped since Sept, I'll figure out what I forgot when I get there.

Never been there. If it's only half as good as I've heard it will be great.

I think you will be surprised at just how nice a shoot it is. It’s a 9 hr drive for us. If it weren’t for another obligation, we would be back there this weekend. Unlimited shooting for one price. Can’t beat the value of a great course and facility. Very nice people hosting.

I've been to a lot of shoots and have seen nice clubs and courses. But NOTHING can compare to Greencastle! What a nice place!

Acres and acres of nicely mowed area reminded me of a country club. Four courses of Rinehart targets in beautiful woods with wide easily walked trails. Huge clubhouse with indoor range, kitchen, restrooms, etc. The shaded camping area was between the river and the fishing lake, complete with clean porta John's and fire pits. Just awesome!

Big thank you to everyone who helped make it happen.

It an hour from me. It is a nice shoot I keep saying what a great place it would for a big rendezvous. Plenty of room for it

Great shoot. Really nice folks, I made 2 friends! One I gave half a steak to the poor critter. Very pretty place setting. Osprey, Wild Turks, deers, and spring songbirds made it a relaxing venue.

I soloed the midsection in early evening and asked my old buddy Red Beastmaster, to get ready a search party, if I’m not back to camp by dark. What great friends I have!

Red said no problem…..Hey who’s getting your truck? Yeah they care:)

My first camp out has me charged up!

Some of the dogs I saw were scaring the bejeezus out of little kids as they rode their bikes or were headed to the playground.

One of these days there is going to be a tragedy at a bow shoot.

Very Beautiful weather this year , Great shoot , Great People , and great targets, thanks to GreenCastle Sportsman Club

I really enjoyed my first shoot at Greencastle. Really worth the trip, I’ve owned dogs for 50 of my 65 years. Most are controlled by their owner, and not noticeable.

I’ve found that when it comes to dogs, most shoots are the same and the few difficult occurrences the same. This wasn’t a Greencastle issue. Andy if you so easily offer to not attend, it causes me to wonder why. No reason to miss this great shoot with unlimited amounts of fellowship because someone might not like your dog?

Most dogs were un-noticeable. Most kids were un-noticeable, except for kid noises:) and it was good to see kids playing without a parent on their back.

My thoughts are to offer a voluntary or recommended camping area with pets. Say…. Like away from kid activity. There was some barking, but tolerable. But there were some dogs that barked at kids, and every camper walking by. But mostly there were dog owners that constantly corrected (yelled) dogs!

It was so good to see kids running and playing, making friends, riding bikes, all within a visual line of their parents. The kids played like they should. I never heard a child even get yelled at lolol!

This is one shoot that I plan to visit every year.

Kids had a blast!!

I was told the Greencastle folks had 175 register to shoot! I'm pretty sure their previous highest amount was in the 130s. That's a 30ish percent increase! They also had 38 campers (sites users, not individual people) register. So apparently word is getting out about the best under-attended shoot in the central Mid-Atlantic area (southcentral PA)!

From: scs
Date: 30-May-23

175 shooters, but no crowd. We followed a group on the course off the field, but we’re never held up. Walked another course with no one around.

That is weird because I went on Saturday morning and I was number 171. I am sure they had more come in on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Oh well. Great shoot

My son had a blast on Sunday. No one around. We had the course almost to ourselves. One big group behind us about 5 targets back but no pressure. Nice shoot. Had cooler with drinks and ice and honor payment system spread throughout.
