How long is it? Self bows are wildly different from glass laminated bows when it comes to brace height. And is it actually a self bow or is it a sinew backed wooden bow?

Mine was 6 1/4" 60" 48@28 Sinew backed Osage.

I find 66-1/4” or close to be the sweet spot on mine. Bow lengths from 63” to 68” NtN.

I just cover mine with min wax ?? I believe ? its been so long that I did anything to it I would have to ck . Just started shooting it again and was checking for brace . I'm at 6 1/2

From 58 to 66 inch long self bows 6 to 6 1/2 always worked for me. For shorter horse type bows 4 to 5 inches.

5 1/2,, if it shoots well there,, go higher if needed,, if your feathers touch,,,cut them shorter

my bow is only 53" 50 @ 25 shoots great but I have it braced at 6 1/2 ?? is that too much ? I'll try 51/2 . I string it so the string is off the limbs with that being said it comes out to 6 1/2 ??

If it shoots great, and you are not slapping your arm I see no reason to touch it.

So are you measuring from.the belly or the back of the bow ?

"it shoots great",,,what's the problem, why change it,, be satisfied with "it shoots great". stop thinking and enjoy.
