Just noticed today and maybe this has been discussed in another thread but 3 Rivers and Easton have brought back the xx75 shaft in Autumn Orange under the Traditional Only name.

From: Andy Man
Date: 21-Apr-23

darn

if they were going through the trouble bringing them back why did they not go with the traditional swaged nock

sorry

I just don't like those pop out nocks

From: trad archer 1
Date: 21-Apr-23

Andy Man, my thoughts exactly. I think going down to 1716 and 1816 sizes would have been good also. Lot of people shooting lighter bows these days.

I was thinking the new offering is a carbon arrow. I might be wrong though….

From: Eric Sprick

Easton did come out with a FMJ shaft in Autumn Orange some years ago This is a xx75 aluminum shaft albeit without swaged nock….:)

XX75 Aluminum, the nocks look swaged to me?

From: grizzley21 Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member
Date: 21-Apr-23

uses either G nocks or super nocks depanding on arrow size,,also says some sizes Not accepting back orders

From: Babysaph Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member
Date: 21-Apr-23

Is it all aluminum or is there some carbon in it. I don’t mind the nocks

From: charley
Date: 21-Apr-23

Just wondering, why does anyone like swaged nocks? When Easton came out with the bushing and push in nocks I thought it was slick. I was done with swaged nocks on sight.

From: Jeff Durnell
Date: 21-Apr-23

All aluminum. Uni-bushings and Super nocks on all sizes except the 1916's, they get G nocks.

Too bad it has that stupid Traditional Only stamp on it. Who's idea was that? Anheiser Busch?

From: grizz
Date: 21-Apr-23

They’re all aluminum XX75 T9. Ima get me some! ;-)

From: grizz
Date: 21-Apr-23

If you don’t like the logo, it comes off with acetone. It doesn’t bother me nor do the nocks.

From: George D. Stout
Date: 21-Apr-23

I like glue-on nocks better as well. Push in may be neat for some, but they are unnecessary with a tuned arrow, and most require relatively skinny strings to function best. The present generation grew up with push-in nocks, so they are going to want them.

From: Kelly
Date: 21-Apr-23

They are out of stock on 1916’s already and no back orders.

From: Kanati
Date: 21-Apr-23

Too bad they aren’t carbon.

I am proud Easton and 3 Rivers brought them back. I really like aluminum arrows. To me, they are just super simple and shoot very good.

I will be ordering a dozen pretty quick.

I have some shafts with the uni bushing and I have some of the older swaged shafts. I like the uni bushing the best.

From: John Sullins
Date: 21-Apr-23

I agree with Matt, I am proud of Easton and 3Rivers. People have been calling for the return of more aluminum shafts for a long time. Now that someone has done it, 3Rviers, aluminum lovers should be happy about it regardless of the type of nocks or name. The Traditional Only name is a 3Rviers exclusive brand name. If they are the ones who worked out a deal to get Easton to make them again, they should be proud to have their name on them. The precision of aluminum shafts has always been near perfect which results in accurate shots. I say thanks to 3 Rivers and Easton for having the courage to take a bit of a risk by bringing them back. I'd bet a lot of archers will be happy to get them. Us old guys had only wood arrows in the beginning, then the aluminums and fiberglass arrived, which we all liked, but the aluminums were still the best. Then came the carbons, tough as hell but not the precision of the aluminums. Who knows what might be next in shaft material.

From: Jim Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

If they were going to do that, why not bring back the Legacy series with swaged nock in a 1816 and up.

From: M60gunner
Date: 21-Apr-23

I ordered 2 dozen 2016’s earlier. I don’t care about the nocks, glue on or pushin. Been shooting metal more lately anyway. Wish they weren’t out of 1916, my 45# bows would have liked them.

From: B.T.
Date: 21-Apr-23

I like push in nocks much more.

From: Jimmyjumpup Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member

I just got into aluminum arrows for trad. They shoot better than any arrow I have tried.

From: Boker
Date: 21-Apr-23

I love the idea and give a thumbs up to 3 rivers now it be cool to see some of the vintage camo patterns return like trebark!

From: Jimmyjumpup Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member
Date: 21-Apr-23

Yea cheaper than Lancaster

From: Jon Stewart
Date: 22-Apr-23

If you are bent on getting AA arrow shafts and want glue on nocks instead of the push in style nock buy some glue in swaged nock adaptors. Easy fix.

#2 They are around $55.00 a dozen before shipping. My guess because it is 3 Rivers is shipping will be around $20.00 or more because of the post office over size charge.

From: Jimmyjumpup Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member
Date: 22-Apr-23

Yea shipping is high on stuff now but that is a good price. I’m not familiar enough with carbon to know how savaging helps

From: Jimmyjumpup Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member

Swaging. Dang autocorrect

From: George D. Stout
Date: 22-Apr-23

Shipping to my place would be $11.95 for a dozen. Doesn't sound too high accordingly. Better get them while they're available. Easton will likely continue them if they have a positive profit return. It takes more than a few guys on a forum to create demand, however. And of course, there are those who will complain about logos, or why don't they come out with this or that; just buy them if you want them as they might disappear altogether again, like they did before.

From: N Y Yankee
Date: 22-Apr-23

A couple years ago there was a guy on Ebay selling NOS original orange shafts. I bought a dozen each 2018, 2020, and 2117 cost me about $275.00

From: Bearcurve59
Date: 22-Apr-23

Hey, I'm interested! I've just ordered a new HH Bow and I'd switched to wood completely 20 years ago. But I started shooting old bear recurve in early 70's. Being very little money then, I tried everything of what little was available to me. Then I got into the xx75's and nothing else compared to the Autumm Orange! Now I'm committed to shooting an asl and just never even considered trying anything but wood. But funny 3Rivers has brought these back just in time. And when I first started with wood, good POC shafts was average 16-20$ a dozen. Now, these xx75 are not much more than wood! I still have a dozen 2018's that I reserve for my Kodiak Hunter because they just shoot so perfect out of it, just as they did in my old Super Grizzly! I'm sure thinking of trying em, and i hope they sell so they'll remain available??! I'd much preferred the glue on neocks tho! Once you know your tune, aluminum is so consistent you never have to doubt alignment. And I went to glue on adapters in them for hot melt glue. Much prefer that to screw in anything! I've always only used 2018, 2020, and 2117 in 50-55# recurve. If I try them, I'm thinking 2016 @29" arrow will be very close? For a ASL 68" 43#@28", which my true draw is 28.5". Any opinions?? And I have no experience with the uni-nocks or whatever they're called? Don't know if I'd l7ke the arrows on account them anyways!

Hey everyone! Happy to answer any questions I can, though a lot of information on the shafts can be found here: https://www.3riversarchery.com/traditional-only-autumn-orange-xx75-shafts.html These are a long time in the making and I'm excited to see how they do. Below is my attempt at answering

Andy Man - Easton doesn't offer swag as an option.

trad archer 1 - If these popular sizes do well, I'd see us expanding on the offering soon enough.

Jeff Durnell - Ouch! I have great pride in our brand Traditional Only and how the logo looks. Though, I need to remind myself it isn't for everyone.

George D. Stout - Less and less glue-on nocks being made anymore I'm afraid. Scary to think about if they ever come hard to find.

Kelly - We didn't get in the 1916 or the 2219. I'm not sure when they will come either.

Kanati - Well, we do have these: https://www.3riversarchery.com/easton-fmj-5mm-autumn-orange-shafts-limited.html

Jim - Easton doesn't offer swag anymore. I don't know anywhere you can get it done either.

M60gunner - Sign up for the waitlist, we just have not got the 1916 in yet. I'm not sure when, but assume "soon."

I used to hunt with them in the late 70’s with my Howard Hill Tembo. Would love to shoot them from my Shrew Classic Hunter II with carbon limbs. Cut to center, 48.5 pounds at my 29” draw. I cut my arrows at 29.5 inches and use 200 grain point. What spine would you recommend???

I too wish they had swaged nocks - alas, it sounds like swaged aluminum is a thing of the past. I have 48 swaged AO 2117s in my man-cave, uncut and unfletched - just collected them over the years when they popped up on ebay. I've got a couple doz gamegetter green 2117s as well.... FYI, not for sale!

For those wanting swag nocks, it was brought to my attention, why not put these in the uni-bushing: https://www.3riversarchery.com/arrow-nock-adapters.html

This should work for all but the 1916 size, as the Super nock is a direct fit .246" press-in, and these adapters fit the same, so it would be an option at least.

From: Supernaut

Really cool and even cooler that 3R Shooter jumped on and answered questions.

I like aluminum arrows so this is nice to hear.

From: Andy Man

Thanks 3R shooter

For the info

Gonna miss the s wedged nocks See the jazz don’t have them anymore either And Classic are gone

I like my bigger throated mercury speed nicks

From: Kelly
Date: 22-Apr-23

I do like the Super uni nocks but prefer the old style since I’m sitting many thousands of Mercury and 3 line Micro Speed nocks but that won’t stop me from ordering 1916’s when they get them in.

Thanks, 3 R Shooter!

From: M60gunner
Date: 22-Apr-23

3R , I ordered 2 dozen 2016 yesterday. Finally used my gift cards from Christmas. I know I will be wanting more later. Let me get through 2 heart stints and valve replacement. Figure that will have me shooting my “girly” bows more and more.

Looks like they are going quick I ordered a dozen 2016.

From: Steve P
Date: 22-Apr-23

I see the 2018 is the shortest of all the shafts. I’d of thought it would be as long, if not longer, than the softer spines.

I shot 2419's with 190 grain snuffers 1 and 1/2 wide out of my 80# Brackenbury recurve . Talk about shooting logs . But what a deadly combination! They would smoke anything you hit.

For the longest time a lot of people lamented about the AO being discontinued- well, somebody listened- and finally brought them back- even in this time of economic woe. I’m ordering some for sure. Just to show support. If the sales aren’t there, they’ll go away again. Possibly forever.

From: Jeff Durnell
Date: 23-Apr-23

From: Jimmyjumpup Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member

Got it. Thanks so it’s just the color the guys go crazy for. Lol

From: Jimmyjumpup Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member
Date: 23-Apr-23

If it’s just color what’s the logo have to do with anything? Was there no logo on the old AO shafts?

From: Ray Lyon Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 23-Apr-23

The color is nostalgic. Back in the seventies when these came out XX75 was the cat’s meow (X7 was the ultra premium target shaft). Shot my first deer with Autumn Orange 2117 from my Howard Hill Tembo in 1978. There use to be two companies that swaged the point end. One was a spin swage and one produced a swage similar to the old nock swage.

From: Jeff Durnell
Date: 23-Apr-23

Jack, nope, no logos. The only marking on them was the arrow size, then model and size, like xx75 2018, for instance. But that was back before the manufacturers thought we should advertise for them with every single little piece of gear. I always thought logos on vanes looked terrible too.

I have a bunch of old aluminums that have nothing but the arrow size on them. They have the manufacturers i.d. stamps on the outside of the boxes, stickers on the inside of the boxes, but nothing on the arrows themselves. That was the traditional way to do it :)

From: Jeff Durnell
Date: 23-Apr-23

Nope. They're not. I wouldn't hunt with them just for that reason, even though they do look really good with blood on them. I just like making my own hunting arrows with wood. Nor would I ever shoot aluminum or carbon from a selfbow, but that's just me. I'll target shoot them AO from a glass bow though.

From: Zbone
Date: 23-Apr-23

Push on nocks are always centered, you can glue a nock on crooked to swage... Only takes a slight out off center to affect flight too... Been there done that...

I appreciate them making the effort to bring back a shaft that a lot of us cut our teeth on and have been clamoring for. I don't need any shafts right now but ordered two dozen 2216's just to support the effort.

I just bought 2 doz 2016. I promised myself I would never buy another arrow. I do not need anymore. I have been unloading my Easton Axis and will sell the other 100 or so this summer at shoots. I am staying with this bow and the pop cans for the rest of my life.

Beat me to the punch Fritz. Was just coming to say 1916 just arrived. Emails sent to those on the wait list already and we didn't order as many 1916 as other sizes, so if you want them, do not delay.

Box Call 71 - We are not making them in 2213 right now. If they do well I do see us expanding on to the offering, but for the moment just what you see in the drop down listing on the product page.

Kelly - That's strange it was not working. Other than where we are shipping too and $ minimum, not sure what it could be. Give us a call if you still have issues.

Jon Stewart - These are being made for us by Easton as a private label shaft. So no we do not own Easton, but unless we order it, they are not being made.

Jeff Durnell - Who knows what the future holds. Time will tell.

newell38 - Some sweet looking arrows there!

Do they even make 2020s anymore???

Good news is that these are just a color option, so 3R can keep offering them as long as they can sell them in a quantity that makes the pricing work. They probably still have whatever tooling is required to make 2020s, so maybe a comeback could happen??

I’m not a big fan of the additional graphics, but I’m not offended by them… so as long as they’re removable, it’s All Good. Full-length solid color doesn’t really turn my crank these days, so I guess I should figure out my paint/glue/fletching issues and get after it..

The irony for me is that 40 years ago, I thought “ORANGE??? Are you out of your MIND??”, so I thought they were “ugly”; now I think they’re kinda cool. ;)

Think I’m gonna grab a screenshot of Homey’s T-shirt and save it to my desktop….

Corax_latrans - Unless I missed a shaft, Easton did discontinue 2020 altogether. Yes, they could make it again. In our talks in the past with Easton about 2020 size it had a substantially high order quantity that wasn't feasible.

We will see where they are on it when/if we go to add sizes to the model in the future. They are selling as fast as we can make them into packs, so that is a good sign.

I just got 1 doz 2117 and 1 doz 2018 today - they look great, and a great price! This is great intel. I will get on this opportunity. Wish the 2018's were longer but I'll be happy with 2117's for now. Thanks for the tip!

From: MCS
Date: 03-May-23

Ok I have a question. Do the knocks that come with the 1916’s come out because I could not pull them out? I wanted to see if the tapered end would except a glue on knock anybody know the answer to that?

From: limbwalker
Date: 03-May-23

Yes, they come out. Those bushings are tight though, so you will probably need pliers to pull them out.

You're wasting your time with a glue-on nock. The insert nocks are 100 times better, simpler and require no glue. I know that's hard to believe and tradition is tradition, but get over the lack of a swaged nock. They got away from swaged nocks for a reason.

Date: 03-May-23

Thanks, Limbwalker. Old habits die hard.

I had the same trouble about 20 years ago but I'll never go back to swaged nocks now.

From: Coop
Date: 03-May-23

I grew up in a age that Aluminum was the preferred shaft hands down. I have ALWAYS hated them. Preferred woodies. Once carbon was introduced I have no incline to go back to wood or aluminum. Your mileage may vary.

From: limbwalker
Date: 03-May-23

Coop, they all have their place. I grew up shooting aluminum and was one of the first to admit here that carbons were superior in a lot of ways. But I also appreciate wood and still love aluminum arrows. None of them are the wrong answer. Glad we have choices.

From: sheepdogreno

Nice helical fletch. I’m glad these came exactly 30.5in long that’s exactly where I ended up bareshaft with 150 up front. Lucky I guess

From: limbwalker
Date: 04-May-23

Sheepdogreno, what was the uncut length of those 2018's? I have a hard time believing they come shorter than the 2016's.

From: sheepdogreno
Date: 04-May-23

They were 30.5…I got lucky and knew that 2018s would get me really close at that length. I was also skeptical that they would be shorter but they definitely are. I guess I don’t understand I believe the 2016s come 32in which is great. Wish the 2018s did as well then I could use them in more of my bows that are lighter

From: Boker
Date: 04-May-23

The 2018 have been shorter for a long time. Never understood that myself. Makes it difficult with longer draw lengths.

From: Corax_latrans
Date: 04-May-23

But at least you guys with the longer draws have plenty of options….

Personally, I’m of two minds on nocks; I don’t often think too much about those incidental RobinHoods, so that’s not a big worry, but I hate it when I have a nock bounce out. Maybe it’s less of a problem with Al than carbons?

From: limbwalker
Date: 04-May-23

30.5 for 2018's is just dumb. I'm sure it has something to do with the manufacturing process, but I guess I'll just get some 2117's like the "good 'ol days" and hope I am man enough to tune them. ha, ha.

From: Corax_latrans
Date: 04-May-23

You think maybe they start with a metal slug and draw it out ‘till they run out of metal?

If that were the case, seems like there would be an upper limit of X grains of shaft…

I finally finished up a dozen. I am not a plain arrow guy. I did cheat and used wraps that I crested. These are working out of a couple bows just fine. I saw on the Easton chart they consider a 2016 to be 500 spine. So I tried them from my 55# LB. They flew great but just a tad light. I think I am pushing the limits on that weight unless I cut them short and load up the front which I am not a fan of. But out of my 48# recurve they are great.

I like the 2018s plenty of weight and have been able to tune them to a couple bows. Shooting them out if my das longbow now and had to trim them an inch to 29.5. It’s just shy of #50 on my fingers but having and adjustable side plate helps too. They are flying about as good as I could ask for after some micro adjustments on the side plate
