I need a GOOD BREAK before hunting season arrives in Iowa. Gotta go chase those Walleyes. It's been to long finding. Time to take a break before the rut kicks in. I know, Iowa opens October 1st. But the walleyes should start moving in soon. I maybe early, so the BIG Flatheads might be there tomorrow morning. JF

There comes a time to pick and choose. I know when I will have a good chance seeing Deer and great fishin times. This was a 10# 3 year old Wiper. I should have mounted that one :) I ate it. JF

I got a few nice trout yesterday, and set some crawfish pots. We got a good amount of crawfish, most of them good sized.

Well three weekends of fishing and I finally got a walleye. It's been slow, the population is still down. This is a keeper. But I don't keep Big ones. 27-1/2" little over 7#. I'm still looking for eater size. 15-20"

It was great to see a big fish, but I've had bigger. Plus I'd love some to eat. Maybe I'll get out to bow hun soon. Couple more weeks then I'll switch to bow hunting. JF

Fall fishin can be the best.Been getting a few of your eater size walleyes. But I never throw any back. I eat all of them. The Flatheads I will put back. Well, most of them.

Fishing is just like deer hunting, sometimes you have to let the females go to repopulate the area. My deer hunting spot has not had many Does for quite a few years now. Niece and nephews have shot a lot turned shotgun. I have not taken one there in a while. Just like my walleye fishing has not had the population so that's why big females have to go back into the river. JF

Went on a hunting trip a couple years ago camping. first of October opening day . 90 deg day the next day we said the heck with it and had fishing gear . Payed off nice

The duck blind is just to the right out of the picture. I thought it was kind of ironic that they were walking right to the blind. Obviously there weren't any duck hunters in it today. JF
