Our second annual squirrel camp is now in the books. What a weekend!

Nearly 20 trad archers met at a farm in SW PA to camp, shoot, eat, and let off steam. It was epic!

There were many homemade squirrel targets set out for our Squirrel Safari course as well as the practice range. We had all sorts of zombies, mutants, and creative targets. We even had a mechanical squirrel that would ring cow bells when hit. We had lots of laughs whacking squirrels with our stickbows!

No one bothered actually hunting squirrels. It was too much fun staying in camp.

A great time was had by all!

Sounds like a great time. But no squirrel stew? ;)

We are tripping over squirrels here on Beaver Island. They are getting mange and are flocking to the beaches to try and relieve the itch I suppose. It’s crazy seeing squirrels swimming in Lake Michigan. When Mother Nature culls the herd its ugly. I feel bad for them. This type of mange is specific to squirrels and isn’t passed to pets or humans and spontaneous recovery is common. Praying for the best.

Pics should be coming soon. Our press secretary should be posting some after he gets back to normal. :)

No squirrel stew but we ate some awesome sloppy Joe's and had a BBQ Pork Nacho bar. I made a PILE of breakfast burritos and had no problem getting rid of all of them. We ate good!

Even though I arrived a day late and a dollar short:) it was still a great experience,

And charge up of my batteries.

It’s really great as I get myself back into a good physical condition, that my stickbow buddies always help to setup my camp, very kind folks in this group!

I didn’t get pics of every target but the variety was cool! Even a mechanical target of which I did not get a picture of…. Dang.

I’m hoping to have one forwarded to me. So here’s what I got, but I missed quite a few.

I do apologize.

Thanks to the organizers and land owners Emily and Mike:)

After a short meeting discussing range “etiquette” shooting was to begin. A common thought amongst the group was that “Range Etiquette” was a French style breakfast food…..:)

It’s past 2:00pm where is Bob Hildenbrand??:)

A few target pics. I didn’t get them all as some were pulled and homeward bound before I took my photo adventure. You’ll get the idea:)

We are just a bunch of guys from all walks of life who found each other through the stickbow. We represent several counties across SW and southern PA. Some of us have been buds for decades and let the newer young guys do most of the heavy lifting.

Our Squirrel Camp is mostly just another excuse to hang out with good friends.

We do need to add some younger stock to the trad hunter tanks for sure. 2 guys under 45 yrs old in attendance right?

Here’s a pic of the mechanical squirrel target. But the squirrel and it turns on a motor which rings cowbells lolol

TTT for someone who asked how to turn milk jugs into targets.

I tried filling jugs with spray foam but without air they wouldn't set up completely. Then I just jammed a zillion plastic bags inside with a stick. Stops an arrow great.

Then I painted them up, added arms, legs, tails, heads, etc. Still in good shape after getting pummeled on the Squirrel Safari last week.
