How do you hunt (mostly)
1. Treestand 2. Saddle 3. Ground 4. Pop-up 5. Spot and stalk
I'm mostly a "ground guy"... I have a couple of bows that let me shoot off a VERY short folding reclining chair (4" off the ground). I snip myself into a good piece of brush and wear a ghillie suit... lean back and try to fade into the brush. When it's time I just "lean forward." 50% of the time it works some of the time. It's good in that I can be still because it's a really comfortable chair... it's good because I am safe... it's not good because I really have to pick my spot. If the deer doesn't come to the EXACT spot... no shot.

Trees if needed, prefer a hang on. Ground if no good trees around, allen quick blind, or ghillie. If it is a misty/slightly foggy day I like to creep along.

For deer, 70% portable tree stand, 30% pick a spot on the ground like Jar the OP.
If I'm hunting small game I sneak around with my bow or 20 gauge, lot of times sit for squirrel with my .22.
I really like sneak hunting with my flint lock for deer in our second season after Christmas.
I just like to hunt and my method depends on what I'm after, conditions and the weapon I take into the woods.
I tried hunting out of a pop up blind and it just isn't for me, I feel constricted if that makes any sense.

Over the past three years I have transitioned from almost 100% treestand (climber) to almost 100% hunting from the ground. I still hunt trails and oak trees like I did from a climber except now I hunt from some type of cover. I have a leafy suit on the way that should help. I also still hunt some too.

Some ladder some spot and stalk but mostly find a nice blow down in a good area. Last year I converted a blow down into a dug out blind. Worked beautifully and was super comfy and quiet. I think I’ll most be sitting in it again this year

Rather be in a tree, but have been doing some ground sits more and more as I age, plus they are great for viewing sits in spots that are new to me. Also, just not good trees in many spots. You have to admit, sitting high in a tree looking out over a forest on a calm, cool, October evening is something special.

I like to be on the ground. I still-hunt may way into the woods or along an edge and use my field glasses to look around a lot. Once into the woods, I like to look ahead for stumps or logs to sit on. I love to sit for a while, look around listen to the birds sing and the squirrels dig in the leaves, feel the sun or the breeze and watch for deer upwind of me I like to move around and see different trees, creeks, fish, game trails, look out over fields from just inside the woods, things like that. I just call it "a walkabout". I'm looking for deer all the while being mindful to check my backtrail but also taking note of the things I see when I come across them, new trails, scrapes, tracks and such. Ive come up to several deer this way. Just go slow and quiet. Try to stay in the shadows.

Lone Wolf climber 99.9% of the time...but then again we have unlimited good straight trees literally everywhere here. This question is pretty open to the terrain and availability of trees, etc. If I hunted only brush country I wouldn't own a tree stand. I have shot a few deer on the ground just stalking, I got lucky...the deer made a mistake. Still, given there really is a suitable tree anywhere you want to hunt I use them.

The older I get the closer to the ground I hunt.
If I get into a tree , it’s it a BIG ladder stand not very high.
Been several years since though.
Nice ground blind or really good natural blind is my go -to.
I’d rather sit comfy and watch the woods.
I still manage to kill deer but that’s when the fun ends and the work starts.
I also found young deer taste much better than the old ones.

What ever works. Don't corner yourself into one method of hunting. Not all methods works everywhere, everytime. I'm mostly a stand/blind hunter for deer and turkey but will in the drop of a hat stalk if needed. Same for drive hunting deer. Do what works in your locale.
