I use Big Jim’s. Get the stick, it’s easier to manipulate, trust me. I also keep a cup of water close so I can dunk arrow in right away to cool it, carbons. I haven’t had any inserts get lost yet after a couple years. I did use golf shaft epoxy but have had inserts back out after repeated hits on wood target frames.

I primarily use Easton Aluminum arrow hot melt. I only use it for gluing broadheads to adapters. Otherwise, I've used craft supply quality hot glue gun sticks with reasonable success as long as all surfaces are degreased and appropriately mated when gluing.

I just use the Easton stuff, but as long as it's low temp, it's fine.
Viper out.

Yup. Low temp heat melt glue and a cup of water, works great. I have the blue Bohning stuff but seems any of it works. Just clean inside of shaft and outside of insert, don't be stingy with the glue.

I received a two pound cylinder of hot melt from a friend who got it from a relative who used to work at the now defunct Dexter Shoe Company, in Dexter Maine. Absolutely great stuff. Just refuses to pull out but a long field point installed and a lighter with a pair of pliers will remove it with ZERO damage. It is medium amber in color.

I can't tell you what the differences are from one hot melt to another... excepth that ferrel tight doesn't work well and that all hot melts aren't created equal. I had several samples sent to me from a hot melt company.. told them what I was using it for and they advised.
of the 5 samples, only two worked well.. one being better than the other and that is what we have been selling/using for years.
I would venture to guess that we put in more inserts in a month than most of the people on here would do in a lifetime! BigJim

I’ve never tried Big Jim’s hot melt yet. I’ve been using Ferrel-tire forever on my wood arrows and don’t ever have an issue. But I make sure the points are clean.
