Can anyone tell me what are the differences between the 709 & 7090 Hunters. Is it just model years or did they tweak the design in any way?

Pearson went to the four number system across the board, likely for business reasons, etc., but I've never seen a change in the design in the old Pearson Hunter models; at least not to my obvious attention...could have been subtle changes. I have seen a lot of offshoots of that model made for other companies but nothing major in the Pearson Hunter line...'cept the woods and the model number changes.

If you can get in touch with Greg Richards of 3D Archery he might help you. He has a few and does like them.

Here's a hunter I'm cleaning up for a buddy. It's taken me much longer than it should. I've just enjoyed shooting it so much.

Ben Pearson sold Ben Pearson Archery to The Leisure Group, a large conglomerate, in 1967. The 1968 and later models had four digit model numbers. The composition materials in some models changed. For example, the 1966 and 67 Javelina had zebrawood risers but 68 models had bubinga. The Hunter and Mustang disappeared after 1968 but a very different Mustang re-appeared several years later.

A different Hunter came out as well.
The BPH 52 was called the Hunter later in Pearson's history. It was the 7329.
Interesting note, Ben Pearson had a crossbow in their catalog in the'70's.

Same thing happened to the Pearson Colt (Model 707 became 7070) and the Mustang (717 became 7170). In both cases the woods were not as nice in the four-digit models as they had been in the earlier three-digit bows.
