How often do you shoot to maintain your best accuracy? How many arrows do you shoot to maintain your best form?

I try to shoot every day, even if it is just three arrows. If the weather is not suitable, I sit it out. I also really try to put my best effort into that first shot because im hunting that first one is most likely the only one.

Not enough!

My best practice routine is to have only one arrow. Makes me slow down and actually practice the elements of the shot. If I go out there with a quiver full of arrows I get so I’m just flinging.

I try to shoot every day I’m home. Usually 5 days per week. I shoot anywhere between 50-75 arrows. I never quit on a bad shot. Sometimes if I’ve had a hard day and am tired, I will move in close and just take a few precision shots at something like a golf tee. Seems to help me focus better.

Mainly shoot just before, and during hunting season.

In order to “be confident” in what I am doing, I try to shoot at least four days of a seven day week. The number of arrows on each day varies depending on how I am feeling, or what aspect of shooting I am working on. I typically only shoot between one and three arrows at a time. Walk to target and back, etc. I may do this 12-15 times in a session.

in crappy weather, just 10 yards most days, but now that the weather has improved, outside and at further distances.

When I had a stressful job I shot 100-300 arrows per day dependant on weather. Now that I work in a laid back job I shoot maybe 50 per week. To maintain best accuracy I definitely am not shooting enough.

I try for daily, weather permitting, 25/30 arrows a set. Use to be a lot more arrows a set but pain is a regulator now. Is it enough? Probably not because I’m not the shot I once was. I can still put one through the lungs at 18 yrds so I’m good with that.

My shooting varies by the season. Late April starts a very busy time at work and, the high temperatures I detest. So, through most of September, it is generally 2-3 times a week (at best), 1-2 dozen shots. When work slows, and the weather cools, I'm shooting 4-5 times a week, 2-3 dozen shots. On top of that, I shoot 3D at our trad club on the first Saturday of every month, all day, and that usually adds up to 120+ shots. I spend more time building arrows in the summer, than I do shooting.

I practice with 3 arrows...one high...one low...one in the center usually. :)

I've been shooting every day for 53 years. Except for the eight years I was in the U.S. Army. Some of the Army posts I was stationed at had sportsmen's clubs where I could shoot, and some didn't. Now that I'm retired sometimes, I shoot a couple times a day. I have a big yard to shoot outside and if the weather is bad, I have a 20-yard range set up in my basement. I never actually counted how many arrows I shoot in a practice session, but sometimes I'll practice for 15 or 20 minutes and sometimes I'll practice an hour or two depending how much other stuff I have to do that day.

I usually shoot one arrow and maybe dozen or so shots, 3 days a week. Seems to work good for me

I shoot every day just because I like to. Been over 50 years and the flight of the arrow still fascinates me more than anything

i found that shooting one arrow, retrieve, shoot, etc. a few times every 2-3 days is what worked best for me to improve accuracy.

i saw no improvement shooting multiple arrows, or 'groups', more often.

Groups show consistency, that's what shooting for grouping is about, versus the blind hog finding the acorn. The bottom line is to be accurate with every shot; how you approach that is a personal thing, but there are proven ways if you need them and may be struggling. As in most things however, if it ain't broken, then it doesn't need fixin.

I shoot for fun, and it's more fun when you hit what you are shooting at.

Jed -

I need 3 days/week of shooting, averaging 100 - 200 arrows per session to maintain.

Viper out.

Not as much as I used to. Seems the less I shoot, the better I shoot. I'll have a day every couple weeks at the shack where I do almost nothing but shoot. I look forward to that as I'm usually in the "zone". That's normally when I'll practice all the awkward positions and fling a few out there outta my comfort zone.

Let me know when you get some time, Jed. We'll warm up on the foam at my camp then head over to 4B's 3D. I owe ya a day of hospitality!

I am like Harley. I use one arrow. Helps me from getting fatigued and gets some steps in during the process
