Just a follow up to the footed shaft thread from awhile back.
These are double wing footed arrows I call P&P's. That is their made from Padauk footing, and Poplar shafts. I was surprised at how uniform they spined out. 60/65 and fairly straight as well.

Those are beautiful. I would love to fletch some up. If I ever learn what I need in the way of spine for my bows & get confinite enough to order a bunch of shafts,I want to start working with wood. I would even like to start turning the shafts. Shandor gave me some advice so maybe I can get started pretty soon. >>>>------> Ken

Looking great. But you can’t leave us wondering what method you used to foot them.

Very nice looking. I was curious where you get your wood for the footings. Padauk isn't commonly available. I would like to get something in smaller size. It doesn't seem like you would need a very large piece of wood to make up a dozen footings. Not necessarily padauk, possibly some other woods.

Woodcrafters sell small pieces of a large variety of woods. That is where I get mine.

We have a hardwood supplier nearby. They started stocking small quantities of exotics.

We have a Woodcrafters in Greenville. I will have to check them out again. I thought they only sold sold normal length boards.

Just get my foots from old furniture.I just saw them up as need them.Any decent hard wood will do as long as it is not too heavy. Some wood can be greasy and hard to glue.Mostly exotics though. Two wing is just as strong as 4 wing footings.I do more from square blank shafts.I only splice square onto round shafts for a repair.Wood that has an interlocked grain is a lot better than plane straight grain. It will resist splitting.I find it better to use non water proof glue .Foots can and do sometimes break with non water proof glue you can soak the foot in water and scrape off the finish first You remove it and glue a new one on again Plane the repair down and sand it .Refinish and you are right to go.Nice footed arrows there.
