Mine was simple. Compressed straw target with whatever I felt like shooting at in the moment pinned to it.

Had a couple of bag targets at one time but didn't like them in the basement.

I use a bag target. I really don't have room for anything else.

Congrats on the new house! How far will you be able to shoot?

Bag target or block target for me in my basement. I can only get 10 yards but it beats shooting in the cold or rain. The rubber horse stall mats at Tractor supply make excellent backstops without taking up a lot of space if you think you may need one.

Nemophilist (Frank) has a nice basement set up and can get about 20 yards. He'll likely post a pic if he sees this thread.

I can shoot 12 yards in my basement. I have those Superior walls so mounted a piece of plywood on the metal studs and have a block target about 3’ above the cement floor. Works great for rainy and cold days. If I want to shoot outside I just with take the block out and set it anywhere I need it. Lots of times I just throw a tennis ball in my yard and shoot at that with judos……….. Nimrod

I can shoot up to 14 yards in my basement. It's enough to just keep the form in tune and the muscles in shape. I use a loosely suspended bag target, it swings when the arrow strikes to absorb some of the arrow's energy and this makes the target last longer. The rack holding the target and a large (7 foot wide, 8 feet high) backstop of plywood (sides fold in during storage to reduce footprint) are mounted on a platform on quality casters to allow easy movement for set-up or storage. I need the large backstop when I have youngsters learning to shoot,...so far the basement walls have never been hit but the plywood has numerous hits to its credit.

Mine isn't too fancy and I have to shoot through a doorway to get 20 yards but it sure is nice to have when it's raining outside. I used an old folding cot frame that has wheels as a stand to hang my bag target. Since it's on wheels I can roll it to wherever I want. I also have enough lighting to light up the whole 20 yards to the target. Plus, a week ago my wife bought another refrigerator to keep in the basement so now I have somewhere to keep my mountain dews cold. :) I also have a radio/CD player there to listen to some tunes if I want to while I'm shooting. Now when Supernaut comes over to shoot I can give him a cold beverage.

I'm lucky and have a 17 yard shot. I use a bag target sitting on a styrofoam ice chest with a sheet of 1/4 plywood behind it for a backstop. I don't shoot much further than 17 yards when I'm hunting so I'm good to go.

Haha, I have a whopping 6 yard shot. I prop a feed bag target against the door. It's good for keeping the muscles loosened up.

10 yards is all I have inside and use 3 bag targets stacked on top of each other,10yrds is my preferred range for a hunting shot as well seeing I’m only pulling #40 now.

I can get a 12 yard shot in my basement. I shoot year round there. I have a Bearpaw backstop (doubled over in front of the cement wall) hanging behind my 3D target. It’s like a Kevlar tarp that’s good for up to 50 pound bows but I’ve doubled it up.

I can't add anything but I was interested to know if anyone besides me has to sit on a chair or stool to shoot in their basement.

My basement ceiling is 6 ft. 10 in. and won't accommodate the upper bow limb.

No basement here -we are river bottom land

Dig down 3 feet and you got water even on low tide

Yamaha, yes, in my old house I had to sit in a chair. This one I can stand up

Always keeping in mind that 10 meters allows you to train for "Olympic" air rifle.

A few years back I had a shot at a house that had 50x40 foot garage. It had radiant heat. I would imagine the previous owner was a car nut because it seemed more like a display place than a working space. Deal fell through, but I could just see myself in the winner's circle in Vegas!
