It's one of those mornings, the birds gobbling off the roost didn't do as planned, didn't follow the hens as they flew down to the meadow and walked by me some 20 yards away. Instead, the boss gobbler chose to stay on the ridge and gobbler in the small meadows, trying to call the hens down the canyon to him.

Making my way up the ridge, I'd pause and wait for the gobbler to sound off. He'd sound off every five minutes, letting me know where he was. Some 10 minutes later, I was as close as I wanted to get, and found a fallen tree to kneel in front of. Nocking an arrow, I gave three yelps on the diaphragm and the bird sounded off immediately some 40 yards away. Gripping the string, I yelped two more times, and a few minutes later, watched as the gobbler come strutting into view less then 14 yards away...

I started shooting my 52 pound Stalker Coyote FX again a few weeks ago. I've been shooting Carbon Trads a lot, but since Victory discontinued them, I've been shooting .500 spined RIP'S with 60 grain half outs and 125 grain Daysix Evo broadheads. The broadhead was still sharp, even after the gobbler had dug it into the ground several times as he flopped around.

I recently got rid of all my ilf stuff, and wanted to kill a gobbler with the Thunderhorn Coup stik Duane made me in February, but I'm just not consistent enough with it to hunt with yet. And South's bows shoot extremely well for me.

Craig, Just the position the arrow ended up in. The bird was quartering away just a tad as he saw me draw the bow. I was worried about the shot looking low to me, but the broadhead cut the gizzard and everything else. He didn't flip like they usually do at the shot, just ran a short distance and started flopping.
