They are out and about. Both young and old. These 2 came from under our shop at work. Hopefully in the coming days more will fall to the Mighty Longbows(LOL) Shoot Straight and Good Hunting.

Small target, nice shooting!

I haven't seen many behind the house yet but it's about that time. Good stalking and long distance shooting practice for me.

More than good shooting! It's hard to get close enough for a shot.

Nice work Tony. Wish you could come eliminate one for me. I've only seen her once, but she has her digs at the edge of my garden. 8-(

Over on Bowsite, somebody posted a link to some hundred-grain broad heads that run 20 bucks a dozen…. If you can figure out how to get them up to weight, they might be just the very thing for these adventures. I have heard that chucks can take it kind of personal when you poke them with a field point!

I would think that they would taste pretty good when they are on a steady diet of fresh, young spring greens….

Nice work, Tony!

The coyotes all but wiped them out here but I still find a few. I got my first shot last week. 25yd through the top of a bush. Wide left. The bugger is educated now.

Let the games begin!

Congrats on the sod poodles!

Thanks for the kind words fellows. To answer some of the questions. No I did not make the bows. I took the much smaller one with a Fox Royalcrown Longbow with a 3 blade Bodkin through the neck as he was peeking out of his hole. The bigger hog I took with a Dale Stahl 2 piece takedown Longbow and a SNUFFER broadhead, also through the neck as it was peeking out of the hole. And yes I do eat them. They both went into the crockpot along with some Potatos, carrots, peas, celery and cream of mushroom soup. Over the years I certainly have taken my share with the bow, and do enjoy chasing them. I'll tell you guys something, believe it or not in the many years I have been hunting them, I have never been refused permission from anyone that I asked to hunt them, it have always been a resounding YES. These 2 was a couple of the biggest I have ever taken, both with the same Dale Stahl Longbow. Babysaph, if the Good Lord willing I do plan to be at the Baltimore shoot Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Once again Thanks fellows. Shoot Straight and Good Hunting.

A fella could just about make blankets out of those last two! ;-)

Wow, those are some monster whistle pigs, outstanding!!!

Like you Tony, I also have never been denied permission to hunt ground hogs. The farmers around here really appreciate it. They all want rid of them but are too busy to hunt them most times.

I haven't ate one in a long time but your crock pot recipe sounds great and I think I'll give it a try. Thanks for sharing it.

Tony , You are a “Killer” with those Fox bows and that’s a really good picture of you my friend. Always got a smile and one of the most polite folks I’m proud to be friends with. Keefers

Outstanding Tony, I used to hunt them around here, but you rarely see them anymore. The coyotes take care of them.

Those are WHOPPERS!

Hmmmmm….. Who would’ve guessed that Foxes are good at killing woodchucks?

“A fella could just about make blankets out of those last two!”

Or quivers, or….. Or do just a a quick tan on ‘em and have an enormous supply of fly- tying materials…. Thinking of the “Chuck Caddis”, but I suspect there are others….

Are they good eating ?

Yes vikingbear they are good to eat. Here is a little more details in how I cook them. After skinning and cleaning them, I take the 5 quarters soak them in water to get away the blood. I then salt and pepper them to taste, or you can use whatever type of seasoning you like. I then brown them in the skillet and then transfer them to the crockpot with some ckicken stock or broth in the bottom of the pot. I then add my veggies, potatos, carrots, celery peas and sometimes onions. I then put in a packet of the Lipton onion soup mix along with a can or two of cream of mushroom soup. Set the pot to the low setting and let it go for 4 1/2 to five hours. Only taking the lid off once and stirring everything together. Here is another nice one I took sometime agao
