I'm looking for a new quiver. The kind that does it all. Keeps arrows SECURELY held while hunting rugged terrain. As much as a bowquiver appeals they throw the balance of the bow off enough that I dislike them.

Help!

I was able to check out the newer lighter great northerns this weekend at Twin Oaks. The hoods have a new lighter weight foam and I really like it. I just ordered a custom Sidekick with laser engraving. I also don’t care for a bow quiver.

a Nate Steen does it for me

but I have been using this kind of quiver for a long time (40+ years)

Justin the kind of quiver you described, sounds like a riverwolf alpha would fit the bill nicely. I'm so used to a quiver on bow I don't know if I can change. But Ralph's quivers would be my choice if I do.

Yea the Riverwolf might be a good Idea to try

Justin, I have a American Leathers backquiver. I can't remember but I might have traded you a bow for it.

I too have been thinking of a new quiver, the one Riverwolf makes is at the top of my list.

Justin I have felt the same way as you for many years. Today I tried an EFA quiver and I was pretty wowed. Like it wasn’t even there.

I use EFA’s but an Alpha from Riverwolf is in my future.

I prefer EFA for a hunting quiver.

My favorite is the Mantis that Ron use to sell in his shop. I have the 4-arrow version. I wish I had purchased the 6 though.

If you’re not wanting a bow quiver try Riverwolfs quivers or the Great Northern that goes over your shoulder, I think it’s called the Sidekick .

I find a “Hip Quiver” works the best for me. This one holds 4 broad heads securely and safely out of my way but quickly and easily available. This isn’t my design and I can’t remember where I got the idea to make it but it’s handy! Cotton

Here is another idea. I sometimes use a compound quiver with 550 cord. I can adjust it to hang low around my hip, or higher under my arm. I can rotate to have it more on my back or closer to my side. I like those with 2 grippers, they seem to hold the arrows more secure. This one is a trophy ridge.

Is ya GFA basicly just a delta bowquiver on a strap ? Pretty easy to make. My favorite is a cat quiver, I have a couple but my favorite is a mini cat that I attach to the side of my small daypack. Has great access to the protected arrows and hangs nicely for easy access in a tree stand

Ralph’s are nice

From: Justin

Mainly, I dislike my arrows rattling around when I move. A backquiver is surprisingly quiet in my opinion. I've tried Safari Tuff a few times and the arrows just rattle too much and come loose. Heck even had a 900 grain arrow fall out one morning.

Ralph's quivers look nice and I am sure they are the real deal. Did I mention that I have a birthday coming up? Only once a year I get to spend money. Have a dozen cedar shafts that are beggging to be made up into arrows and put in a quiver.

I change my mind more often than one would think is possible, so I'm not a good one to say, "this is the best". I've tried most bow quivers and frankly now mostly use an old Kwikee two piece that was available back in the early 1960's. I have a cover to use when using broadheads. When using my longbow, I don't like a bow quiver on it, so I use a back quiver, or sometimes an Asbell style that is really handy.

I agree George. I change my mind too much.

From: Kodiak
Date: 03-May-22

I've not been able to really figure out why people dislike bow quivers. Carrying arrows any other way is just a PITA. Just my opinion.

From: bentstick54
Date: 04-May-22

Kodiak, I strictly shoot and hunt with selfbows, and even a 3 arrow strap on quiver with arrows weigh more than my bow itself. Really throws it off balance, plus with a total of 10” handle and riser length it’s hard to get one off of the working part of the limbs.

Remember not all bows are the same, as all people are not the same. Variety can be the spice of life.

Omnivore Quiver. They have a web sight, 3 Rivers also sells them

From: BigB Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 05-May-22

I have bow quivers, side quivers, back quivers, one of Ralphs quivers and I use them all form time to time. lol I have found that the bowquiver helps me shoot better, the extra weight on a longbow but sometimes like when I shoot my ASL bows I don't want a quiver so I use a back quiver or Ralph's Riverwolf drift wood quiver. Also if it is raining I will use my Riverwolf quiver.

Talk to Ottertails or Riverwolf on here. They both have great quiver making abilities.

From: Sawtooth (Original) Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member

I have all sorts of quivers that I use from time to time. Bow quiver- eagles flight Back quiver- Ottertails Side quiver- Riverwolf. All are fine quivers.

The thing about ST is that arrows seem to find their way to rattle around or become dislodged from the foam.

George: "I change my mind more than one would think is possible..."

Are you sure you're changing your mind, or did you just forget what you said last time? Put me in the latter group! Sucks to get old.
