Why do so many questionable and outright scam ads involve Black Widow bows? Where are the scams for bargain priced Bears?

From: Jeff Durnell

Geeze, I took that thread title too literally... and didn't have a good answer.

But you're right, they do.

Easy targets.

Black Widow bows are well-known and they have high value. If a scammer advertises a Widow for sale at a bargain price, he knows somebody out is thinking they have to jump on the deal fast before it's gone.

Because more people want a Black Widow because of the quality and they can usually buy one for less than a new one. So scammers target them.

Because the scammers have Infiltrated us. They have planted spies over the years. And they know the Black Widow guys are very loyal and easy prey;) Hard core Bear guys wouldn’t fall for there BS. Because old vintage Bears you don’t get good deals on. You pay full price and it’s not negotiable;) so that’s why Black Widow;)

I always figured it’s because if they know you were duped into buyin a Widow once you are easily fooled :)

Because they are the best bows and everyone wants one.

If you closed your eyes and shot a BW, A Bob Lee, a Morrison, a Stalker etc would you really know the difference? About as all you would notice is the grip, given if the specs were the same for each. And the arrow would likely hit the same spot too. Don't be duped by high advertising due to blind sales.

I’m definitely not saying they are the best. But I wouldn’t call them rough. My two KBX

I don't know if I would take the risk of buying anymore. Every time I look at a bow for sale and check they have no history or worse they have no posts for ten years and then two posts this year and an add in the classifieds. Even with using PayPal for security if you do get scammed you still have to go through the hassle of getting your money back. It's a sad state of affairs.

They are high dollar, many people like them - and theres a lot of them out there.

Theres a lot of Bears out there - but they simply arent as valuable. If you going to run a scam use a high dollar item.

The number in circulation is a big deal too. It makes your scam more plausible.

Cause the scammers figure the guys that’d buy widows ain’t that smart? Just kidding I have no idea

I got another name for scammers Scumbags.I don't shoot BW's or own one but they are great bows from what I can gather. Some poor guy or gal may love to own one .They may be on a tight budget and can't justify the price of a new BW.Their option will be a good used one. These scumbags just prey on good folks vulnerabilities.I hope karma catches up with them. The urge for some to buy a BW is similar to an addiction, and scammers prey on that.

Candyman,

Just be diligent in taking precautionary steps.

I just bought a really nice Black Widow from a guy here. We talked back and forth quite a few times. I asked a lot of questions and he answered all of them. He even complied with taking an extra photo for me. Everything went perfect and I am very pleased to have a Black Widow PSAX in the stable. And in the right weight and length, that I wanted. It’s a really beauty.

I guess bad press by the scammers mean more folks talk about BW. Wonder if these scams actually increase BW sales - lol.

From: bodymanbowyer

Of course the scammers would pick a high-priced bow that so many people want. Why would they pick anything else to go for. You see a low price your thinking,Wow! I Got to have it. That's why they do it. That's my opinion. JF

I have shot a lot of trad bows and if I was starting over today I’d order two BW’s and call it a day.

There’s a reason why scammers choose them.

Red Dogs & Shawn are full of deer pellets....Baby Saph is 100% correct. I have 3 Widows & have never shot a better bow. Jim you are also 100% correct. Des
