Here’s an easy way to improve on the vintage quicky quiver. Just replace with the hood of a newer model quickly or Bear quiver. I didn’t even have to drill a hole in this one. It was already there. But a big improvement over the quicky hood.

I’ll post some how to pictures. This one had a small screw in it. They all don’t have a screw. But if it does it’s even easier.

The plastic looks to be the same thickness.

Just take the old bracket off the old quicky quiver and screw it to the new hood.

After I saw George’s thread it gave me the idea for this.

Those quivers are just too heavy to suit me ...used them in the past. Got rid of them. Turned one into a side quiver with a strap.

If you like a light quiver. And you have a couple old quivers laying around you don’t use anymore. Maybe you might want to give this a try.

Thanks raghorn spell check would let me do it for some reason

Basically the same quiver. Just more protection from sharp broad heads now. So maybe some on here will make use of an old quiver again.

This is a fine idea! Thanks for posting this!

I'm curious...what do you do with the hood wnen you're down to your last arrow? Never had one of those styles...be handy on my lefty bows as I have no L/h bow quivers.

From: Don T. Lewis
Date: 16-Jan-22

Well Not being a smart ass Steve. But you have 3 arrows to get the job done. If you have to use the fourth arrow You will have to carry the hood out. This is a very old quiver type. Maybe some of the older distinguished experienced bow hunters will chime in. I was just trying to make that old quiver a little safer. So maybe some guys will bring it back to life again.

Squirrel hunting will get you down to # 4 pretty quick! Do they still make that old Kwickee with the hood? All I've seen are those heavy ones that you have to screw a bracket on the bow to mount them on.

From: Don T. Lewis
Date: 16-Jan-22

Yes the old quiver is still for sale. But a lot more money then it was when it first came out. And your right I wouldn’t use it for squirrel hunting:)

Good idea.

From: George D. Stout

Go pick up a couple of the ones you missed with, touch them up and use them again. If you're squirrel hunting, take a different quiver; or, you can keep some blunts in a hip pocket quiver too...mine will hold six blunts. Now we're up to 9. That should dang near hold you Steve. :)

Good post Don. I still have a couple of the old Kwikees and they are a nice lightweight quiver. I thought I would get lucky and find that my old Bear quiver had the removeable hood, but it does not. It’s all one piece. I’ll keep this idea in mind if I run across one with the detachable hood at a garage sale this spring.

Hey Nate, I haven’t tried it yet. But I’m pretty sure any old plastic hood from any of the old quivers would work just fine. Just a little more work involved then the detachable hood Bear quivers. All you would need is a hack saw to cut the hood off the plastic bar. And a drill. Right size drill bit and a small wood screw to put it all together. I’ll post a picture of this too if I try it. Seems like it would also be pretty simple to do.

From: George D. Stout

It helps that these two quivers are made by the same company so it was likely natural to use a similar setup for cover attachment. And, you get a light weight quiver that doesn't cost a hundred bucks.

From: Don T. Lewis
Date: 17-Jan-22

You could also use a small bolt and nut to attach the hood.

Hmmmm, if I ever run across one.

You don’t need a hack saw for the Kwicky KWIVER just pull hard and give a wiggle. It piped right out.

From: Don T. Lewis
Date: 17-Jan-22

But you will need to drill a small hole in the back of the hood on this one. Still pretty easily done. Who’s going to give it a try next?

Cut a little piece of wood to fill up the gap. Make it a little stronger.

So there you go. First one was a Bear hood cover. Second one was off a Kwicky KWIVER. Both pretty easy to do. And now that old style Kwicky KWIVER has better protection from those broad heads.

The doulble arrow holders hold the arrows very solid and close to the bow. You and George have realy improved the hoods.

From: Don T. Lewis
Date: 17-Jan-22

Thanks Clint. Maybe this will put some of those old quivers back in use again. I made a useful quiver from a few quivers I haven’t used in years.

From: SB
Date: 17-Jan-22

Ya...I found the old Kwickee in a new catalog...they ain't 3-4 bucks anymore! I'm sure not paying 30.00 for a new one! When i was a kid I had similar type that was green rubber. I took some #9 wire and some thin copper roof flashing and made a hood for it similar to the old Bear 4 arrow quivers.
