It's 2 months away. Man you guys do get excited about this shoot. What about Ski Sawmill in June? Best shooters shoot in the USA. If you haven't been there since the first two you eally need to go. Just bring your bow and leave your money for vendors home. Ski Sawmill is for shooters and Denton is for buying goodies. I will be at both. Craig

Glad to see so many people excited about this. It will be the first year I am attending. Pretty excited myself, and I will be camping. If anyone has any survival tips for the week for a tent person, feel free to share ;o) I do have a question. As much as I would like to get away from the outer world, I am leaving family at home including my 2 year old and 4 year old. Is there any way for someone to get in touch in case of an emergency? I heard that there is no cell reception. If anyone knows of a number I can leave at home for emergency only, I would appreciate it.

From: longbowdave Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member
Date: 24-May-12

Phone reception on top of the mountain. You'll probably take the ski lift up to shoot a course anyways. Can probably get a land line number once ya get there to give to your family. My phone got a signal up there anyways, may have been a fluke?

If there is an emergency just get a hold of one of the workers. They all have radios so they can contact one of them that can make a call. If you need to make a call drive up to Potter County Family Campgrounds, cell phones work up there. The Pa State Police headquaters is right up the road. Do a search for there phone number and give to your wife. Just in case your wife has to get in touch with you. Wouldn't be the first time the State Police had to find someone.

From: George D. Stout Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 24-May-12

The Endless Mountain Region of Pennsylvania has lots of places that don't have cell phone reception. We manage to survive and prosper anyway. If you have a health issue that you have concerns about, make sure you get the numbers of local emergency services. Easy enough with Google. Type in Coudersport or Galeton, Pa., and write down the various numbers to keep on your person. Also, the Pa. Lumber Museum is right across the road from Denton Hill and they have phones there too.

From: Hunt OH
Date: 24-May-12

the only concern i would have is for my family to contact me in case they have an emergency. I am in good health.

From: YO
Date: 24-May-12

Hunt OH, I know you love your family, but you need to decide is it worth going or not. Make other arrangements for your wife at home to call someone close by. God fobid if something would happen there is nothing you can do being that far away. My mom passed away back in March and I lived 5 miles down the road. I could of been 500 miles away and there was nothing I could do. You need to do what you think is best for you and your family. Good Luck.

I HATE THIS THREAD I went last year and had a blast and said I would never miss this shoot!!!

But I am going to have to miss this year

ZMAN was the best up there and everyone else at his camp site I will really miss seeing you guys had a blst last year and made some great friends and got to meet some great people. Had some fantastic stew in the rain looking at all the bows Keith has to play with HAHAHAHA!!!

2013 ETAR I will not miss!!!!!!!!!!!!

Easy JR,we will be there so please save a spot, will be there Wed morning some time. Hope all is well, an go easy on those Camdens..

From: George D. Stout Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

I've only missed twice, I think, since it began in 1989. Last year I lost two sisters the week prior to ETAR, so I didn't make it. The other time I was away for the company I worked for at the time. Zman (Keith Zimmerman) is a good guy for sure...I shot with him and his daughter, and Den...and two other fellers from the LW, two years ago. The problem with Zman, is he makes me look old when I stand next to him. 8^)).

We are going up Thursday and staying till Saturday.....have a cabin near Germania to stay at. I can be recognized by my confident walk, and elitist attitude. 8^)).

I've attended alot of the big events across the country and two of the best are right there in PA--- the Pennsylvania Bowhunter's Festival and Denton Hill or ETAR. What a classy bunch of folks and a great event!

Last year was my first appearance there doing exhibitions and I had a great time! I enjoyed meeting many fine folks from LW and enjoyed a fine meal at the Log Cabin restaurant with ole' Jawge and his wife. The food there is really good and the clam chowder was fantastic. Good salad bar too.

Enjoy the weekend folks--- I will be somewhere else this year and won't be there but I'll look forward to the stories and the photos.

Aspirn Buster, We always make it to the Log Cabin at least one night, Another place we go to is the dinner going towards Coudersport. If you go there you need cash, no credit cards. The Antlers use to be better before it burn't down and rebuilt. They use to make homemade rasin bread. Man was it good.

Remember, don't forget Ski Sawmill "THE SHOOTERS SHOOT" June 21st-24th

If you like such things, the Diner in Wellsboro is a good place to chow down. In Coudersport, Erways is a great place to eat as well, it's on the west side of town on Rt. 6.

George, I have been to all the places to eat up there. We use to have a cabin in Cherry Springs on 44. Have you been to the Sports Bar Resturant in Wellsboro. It's the old train station. Great Philly cheese steaks. The guy has the rolls sent up from Philly. We always hit this place and Hotel Manor when we go to Sawmill.

From: George D. Stout Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

Have not been there....will have to check it out. Make sure we hook up on ETAR weekend...we can always shoot Cardiac Ridge..it's usually open.

Wouldn't miss it. A friend of mine from work and I will be staying at the Potter Co. Family Campground - Site 59. The showers there alone are worth the cost of a site.

We will be arriving on Monday. We are staying at the Potter County Family Campgrounds on sites 27 and 28. I am hoping to get a little fly fishing in before the shoot starts. Anyone have any reports to the water quality this year. When I was there a couple years ago, the water was to warm and the fishing was very tough. This will be my 10th year, I think.......

For the last several years I have been invited to sing and give the message at the Sunday morning church service at Denton Hill, which I have done. I will be speaking and singing again this year and am looking forward to the days spent shooting with friends, fly fishing nearby streams, checking out products and sharing at the service. By the way...If you go to Wellsboro, turn off the main drag at the Wellsboro Diner and go @ 1 block past. Turn on the the first street past the diner and go down the small street to a little out of the way restaurant called Harlan's.It's where many locals go and I haven't eaten in any other eatery in Wellsboro since I first stumbled onto Harlan's several years ago.Not fancy but friendly people and great food with great prices. Highly Recommended especially for "regular" folks like me!!! "Z"...Give my love to the girls and let's go fishin' !!! Pals...Whitie

Called and made sure of my camp reservations at Potter County Family Campground.....my wife, Deb and I will be at campsite #9...we are heading up Tuesday....getting in a couple relaxing days before the shoot....this will be my first ETAR in a long time as a shooter instead of a vendor.....so i am looking forward to being able to actually shoot instead of stuck in a 10x20 stall in the big tent.....we made a day trip a couple years ago and didn't even take a bow that day..just shot my camera instead....

Looking forward to getting some serious shooting time that week...

It is my favorite event. I have attended for many years even though it it is about 1100 miles from here. But, it looks like something has cme up that will prevent me from attending this year. I will miss attending. If anything changes, I will be there. Mike and his team do a good job running this event.

Great shoot, wish I could go again. Last time there we had to wade through the vendor tent in knee-high boots due to the mud (hurricane had just hit a day earlier....alot of water came off that hill!) Had a fantastic time, the vendor tent alone was worth the 12 hr. round trip. Hope you guys stay dry this year!
