I have 2 Royal longbows and 2 Mentor recurves from Wes. Shortly after picking up my first recurve I allowed the stringer to slip around the limb while not paying attention. The outcome was a twisted limb with a crack in the glass lam. I called Wes and he said we usually use those to start a fire but send them for me to look at. I was really bummed at the thought of spending around 450.00 for new limbs. 2 weeks later I recieved my same limbs back, fixed, straitened, crack barely noticeable and only 40.00!!! I would have spent 450.00 easily, without question, and he knew it, still Wes is the kind of guy who is very special and rare. Integrity, world class in every way!!!! No one has my support more than him! He's one of the very best! Since then, he has built 2 customs that are in his gallery of photo's that are truely world class. a matched set longbow and recurve with footed limbs of Cocobolo/Bacote with moose antler tips. These are to die for gorgeous!!! He continues to be a great listner and always willing to take the time for me!! His products are works of functional art that he never brags about but I have a 64" 60#@28" recurve that spits out my hunting arrows at 207fps. He has given me more than I ever expected in every category, everytime!!! There is no way anyone could ever be sorry about doing buisness with WES WALLACE!!!

This has come up recently in other threads...Wes is universally liked within the trad community. Given how tough the trad community can be to please that is really saying something.

Sometimes pictures are worth a thousand words! But without words it's hard to describe the lethal nature of Wes's work, beyond the craftsmanship, the beauty and precision, lies a wicked weapon that feels buttery smooth as you put your energy into it, once releasing the string you feel how the power stored within it unleashes itself with the authority of the best of traditional bows anywhere!

I just ordered my 4th bow from him, this time a one piece recurve. He has gone out of his way to take care of me over the years, and I'm pleased to do business with him.

The only negative word that I ever read remotely involving Wes was, "Damn, I never should have gotten rid of that bow!"

There seem to be a host of honorable people in our community, Wes is certainly high on the list.

Thanks for this post 1screagle, it is good to read the good stuff.

I have a 64" Mentor, and at one point awhile back... I thought of selling it. Then, I woke up from that bad dream!

As for me, I will stand along side Wes for what he has done for me, and his work.

Great to work with! David

My Royal is a great bow and I have a number of top makers to compare it with. Here is a blackbacked jackel from this past summer in Namibia that I am particularly proud of. Double lung shot and full pass thru at 25 yards.

I have one of his longbows and a mentor, they are by far the nicest shooting bows i have and i have a lot of bows! Wes is a great guy to deal with and i look forward to owning more of his bows

i used to own this recurve. it shot well, fast and whisper quiet with a B50. only reason i got rid of it was i didn't like the size and bulkiness, just not for me. i would say the same about most 3 pc. recurves.

if this is the style you are after, i would recommend you give it strong consideration.

Imitation is the best compliment. I used to the outline of Wes Wallace Mentor TD to give me a starting point for my one-piece form. I have taken quite a few animals with these two bows I made, following Wes as a guide made it a lot easier for me.

I had a Mentor that was Cocobolo riser and Yew limbs. I was at a shoot and a guy nearly begged me to sell it to him. So I did. It was everything you could ask for in a bow, and I wish that I hadn't let it go. It's the flagship of that gents collection, and he has some nice pieces. Great bows, and Bowyer.
