I'd like to paint a recurve that I would only use to teach new archers with. It just looks like crap and I dont want to do a refinish on it or spend a bunch of money. Since I wont be hunting with it, Im wondering about colors, patterns, gloss vs flat etc. Id like to make it attractive but not so bright or gaudy or reflective in the sun. Camo still is not out of the question. I think dipping is too much for me for this bow. What do you think might look good? Thanks

In the scenario you described I would just paint it a flat color like black or OD green and you could always leave it like that or camo it with other colors if you want.

I'm not very artistic but I've painted a punch of portable climbers over the years and that's how I do it. They come out good enough to kill deer from.

Good luck and post some pics please.

I wish I had pictures of them but I don't..but when I was involved in a 4H Shooting Sports club we sprayed several of our club bows with a solid tan color like Supernaut is talking about and they turned out plenty good enough.

We did have to touch 'em up from time to time because the kiddo's were kind of rough on them.
