Well after doing my weekend chores taking the trash to dump and mowing the lawn I decided to go “Tinkering” in my shop and make some feather rests for several incoming bows I resented won in a bidding war. Last week my brother called me at work and said a guy on the farm where he’s tilling ground had a set of Turkey wings in the back of his truck and to come get them. Well I went there and sure enough there they were thrown in back of his work truck so I took them home and clipped off what I could and started to split the feathers for a later date . So today I decided let’s make a few feather rests so here are the final results . Trap still makes the best I’ve ever seen but these will do .

Don you probably know which two bows they are going on once they arrive lol. I want to start on the strings and puffs but better wait . This is what I do to pass time so I’m not worrying on the delivery . Takes my mind off of it if you know what I mean?

What I think is special those feathers were on a wild Turkey just over a week ago and now will be on a few bows. I have some more feathers that were gifted to me from a generous Waller here and I’ll be doing some more at a later date .

Here’s a few more I did today and added them to the ones I made yesterday . I had to cut and grind these from feathers I was gifted from a generous leather Waller and a set of Turkey wings I got last week . A few years ago I made over 100 and I’ve kept just a few and gave many away and did some trading . These take a lot of work if you don’t have feathers that have been processed or ground . Anyway I took a picture before the sun went down outside and wanted to share what I’ve done so far. I have plans for these an will show them in a few weeks on a few bows coming my way. Keefers

Thanks everyone but “ Trap” is still the best I’ve seen .I really like his yellow dyed ones I’ve seen .I had some Osage feathers that were in the box that was gifted to me so I made two using Orange then natural and so on . The other one I put the natural on the outside and every other an orange to give it a different look. I’ll be using those possibly on two rosewood bows heading my way shortly. I think they will look good on it but I’ll have to wait and see when they arrive .

Sorry hat was supposed to be Orange not Osage in the above post.

One of those rests & strike plates would dress up any bow. >>>-----> Ken

Well I had off from work today and after getting some morning chores done I went out in the shop and began to split some more of those gifted feathers that Don Martin sent me and that was a very generous thing of him to do .There are some very nice folks on here . So after lots of grinding and shaping I got 9 more feather rests completed . I haven’t decided which ones will look good on some expected bows heading my way but as I said once they get here I’ll get some pictures to post here at a later date .
