wondering if anyone can id this 2 piece longbow,

have had it for a long time.

appears to be solid fiberglass but not completely certain.

only writing on it...

64" and 48@ 28"

there are some numbers etched on the side and bottom of the male section though,

5528 on the bottom 423185 on the side.

anyone have a guess what this is?

I’d wager it’s a Ben Pearson

Well if you ever get tired of it. Shoot me a pm. Maybe we could make a trade. It’s a Pearson alright.;)

I know there are more Pearson fans on besides me. What was the poundage range on these old bows?

That 5528 scratched should mean 55# @ 28”.

Yep, Pearson

Mr. Lewis, You ever want to get off that beautiful black and white 979; I would pay Large sums of cash for that dandy of a bow...just let me know

Brad that is a 1958 45# @28” 66” Bushmaster. 979 was before Pearson started naming his bows. The Bushmaster was his favorite hunting bow. It’s a sweet shooter. Your welcome to shoot me a PM anytime.

safe to say you like those old pearsons, huh don? lol

those are some beauties!

so thats what underneath the paint in the one i posted?

Yes Ray, I like Pearson bows. I’ve repaired a few too. Yours is a little rough. Just needs a little TLC. Remember it never hurts to ask.

No Ray, That’s not what’s under the paint in the one you traded me. I couldn’t do that to you. Yours is a solid fiberglass with a wood core. But they are one of the best all fiberglass bows. Plus it’s a take down. And a Pearson. I just like them. That last picture is a Bushmaster Ray. That’s a wood fiberglass laminated semi curve with an off set handle;)

interesting,

how did they do a wood core on a solid fiberglass bow?

I’m not sure Ray how Pearson made his fiberglass bows. But I bet people would still buy them if they were being made today. I just really like Pearson’s unique T/D system. I like simple.;)
