I am currently shooting 700 spine carbon arrows off of a 35# bow. Arrows are cut 28.5" and I draw 27.5" I would like to try using 600 spine arrows at a longer length for string walking. Would a 31" or so 600 spine close to the shorter 700 spine? I don't want to buy 600's only to find that they are still too stiff.

Two inches of length = 10# of dynamic spine or 0.10 inches of static spine.

myself, i think you would be better served with 31" .700s at your 35 pounds.
you would have to load up the 600s with alot of tip weight to make them tune out of 35#.
just for an example, i run 31" 600s out of a 41# bow (at my draw length) to get good flight i need 175gn up front.
just my 2 cents lol not worth that probably lol

So Viper adding 2.5" of arrow would equate to about 47# using your formula. That should work with 600 spine. Am I correct?

With nominal weight heads, a 600 @ 29" spines to the low/mid 40#s, going to 31" would (should) drop it the low/mid 30#s.
Basically, a 29" 700 should be close to a 31" 600, but YMMV, and that assumes your tunes are correct.

The only way you'll really find out if it'll tune for your bow and your dynamics is to try it for yourself. You can buy shafts in quantities as low as one or two to try.

600 Axis shafts cut to 29 inches BOP with 145 grains up front shoot well out of a 37# recurve at my 28-inch draw. No reason why they shouldn't work if you leave them longer.

That 5# per inch usually holds true across the board including aluminum. The issue lies with you, and your tuning and personal dynamics. I suspect at 31" they should work well enough.

I would think they will work even if you have to increase point weight a bit. Shawn

Hmmm....
They tune for me at 28” with 175s out of the Bamboo Viper at about #47-#48, but that riser is cut before center...
I would think through the final arrow weight that you want to work with. #37 may or may not be a hunting bow, and if not, you might be perfectly happy with a light, fast arrow. So you might want a 175 up front or an 80, depending on the shaft....

They will work, start full length with 145 grain heads. Look at the GPI as 600 spine shafts vary quite a bit.

My buddy had a 30" Gold Tip Blem bare shaft that he let me try. With 145 gr tip it was just slightly stiff. So I know that I will be able to go with 600's and adjust the length accordingly. Thanks for the help.

Good deal! There's no substitute for seeing what actually works for you. Deerhunt51's advice on looking at gpi when selecting shafts will let you build an arrow to your target weight. If you shoot past 20 yards you may want to look for lighter shafts, knowing that you're going to have a bit of weight up front to tune.

600 seem to be flying hood off my 45@29” kodiak.
30gr insert 125gr point 31” to back of point.
I though they would be weak but maybe not.
I hit a bottle cap today at 22 yards.
Could have been Luck shot though.

I shoot 29" Gold tips with 145 gr. heads out of my Morrison Max 5 super curve set at 38# and they fly very well.

I may have made a mistake! I ordered the 600's because of the results that I saw with the 30" bare shaft thinking that I had two more inches to play with. The site I bought them off of didn't list the uncut length. On another site they listed the lengths and they are 32" EXCEPT for the 600's, they are only 30". On yet another site they list the 600's at 30.75" so I guess I'll find out when they get here. I have been shooting that bare shaft at about nine yds. in my basement and it seems to be flying pretty nice. I will have to check it out at 20 though. I was hoping to be able to use 125 gr. with a bit more length but 145 gr. wouldn't be too bad.

I am shooting them out of a 46 pound Yellowstone Hunter longbow with 145 grain heads. I have a 28” draw and arrow is 29”. They shoot great.
