Off to another rough/good start... wife left me. AGAIN. For good this time so far as I’m concerned and divorce is in order. On the BRIGHT side!! I’m on the meat pole early. I had the pleasure of taking my Bear Custom Kodiak Takedown on an awesome hog hunt in Oklahoma! Paid hunt 2 days with lodging for 3 hogs and I came home with 2. Shot all 3 but #2 took my arrow to the fletch clogged up and no blood. Tracked and trailed forever but never found a thing. Shot my first at 20 yards. Exit wound disemboweled it and traveled just over 1000 yards and recovered. My 3rd dropped in sight. 15 yard shot 20 yard recovery. I couldn’t be happy with the experience I had with my friends and our guide was awesome! Given my circumstance, this is just what I needed! I was out for blood!!!

Much game was seen on this hunt! I got to enjoy the view of fallow deer, black buck, and various foreign rams. Hogs were more than plentiful. Being my first ever bow hunt for hogs I was too anxiously excited to shoot. I shot all 3 pigs first day. Second day I was on the stand to pay for an extra if I loosed an arrow. Ended up on the ground stalking several for good bit before getting into position only to hit high in the shoulder for the loss of a 250 grain Tuff Head and broken arrow plus a $275 hog I didn’t come hone with. Such is life. You win some. You lose some. It was a gamble worth taking! I was having too much fun!!

I was very happy with the performance of my equipment. B riser #1 limbs 60” 45# 16 strand BCY X Flemish of my own. 28.5” Gold Tip Hunter XT 500 spine with 250gr Tuff Head broadheads. Pass though on my first. Full penetration on my third with a great death shot.

We went to No Mercy Hunting LLC in Gracemont, OK. Excellent outfitter with a great crew. They set you up with nice living quarters too. Not gonna lie it ain’t so much huntin as is taking your pick and waiting for your shot. Pigs a plenty! If you’re out for blood such I was at my stage in life, it’s most certainly a worthwhile experience. I learned a lot about these critters and had a ton of fun my adventure, escaping my reality.

This story reminds me of the guy who got a new bow for his wife. He said " it was the best trade he ever made ".

Sometimes parting company is a good thing in the end.
I got rid of a morally bankrupt gal that had affair after affair and met one that liked to hunt, shoot bows, hike in the mountains and thought that being a great homemaker was her specialty. She was also the most honest woman I have ever met in my life.
Cancer came calling after 30 years together but those were some very special years.
