They must have both American and Chinese made knives. You can buy them for $20 or $250.

I have a Marbles knife that was made in China and is cheap a** junk steel. You can Goggle Marbles knives and find both American and Chinese made. It seems to me it would be very illegal for a Chinses knock off company to use Marbles name, model and insignia.

Too far for me to drive anymore Mike. I bought a couple of Marbles/Chinese hand axes years ago. I wonder how many on the table come from abroad. The prices listed makes me think they are Chinese.

Maybe I`ll run back over there and talk to the guy running the table. Not much could surprise me about china. I still havent been to Rapid River knife shop, or the Bark River knife shop yet. They are both pretty close to here.

I’ve got a handful of Original Marbles ranging from 50 to well over 100 years old. And they are in as good of shape as many of my newer ones. The Staghorn pommel and handle woodcraft is my favorite

Marble knifes were all made in the USA. Then when they brought back the Marbles brand some years back they were USA made. Sometime after that they did import a good many of them if not all. Not sure of the years though.

I live between Escanaba and Bark River. On the map they call this spot Riverland. Theres nothing here, not sure how it would get on a map. Many years ago there used to be a ballroom on the Ford river right here.
Theres old Marbles signs still around, but Theres no shop any more.I was kinda surprised to see all those knives, but maybe they are knock offs. I`m gonna go back there tomorrow and talk to the guy running that table.
Bark River knives, is not in Bark River. They are in Escanaba right close to my Sportsman Club, but close the Bark River.

The Chinese make lots of nockoffs, not just knives. A friend of mine purchased a Zeiss rifle scope off e-bay that was really bad Called the company for repairs. They asked for a detailed picture of it, informed him it was a nockoff. I purchased a Kershaw knife from ebay also, would not hold an edge. Sent it to Kershaw for repair they sent it back indicating it too was a nockoff. If the price seems too good to be true, it probably is not real.

Hey Riverwolf, I cant afford to shop there either. $5 for 2 days to browse around though. I had just $5 in my wallet and its real close.
With Marbles out of business, whos left to say they arent a knockoff? $375.00 for a hunting knife sure seems like alot to me, I wouldnt say too good to be true. I carry a $35 Sharade.

I believe the boxes with the wild cat on them are from the 90s. I have seen them with gladestone MI and also with just marbles. I had one of the ideal knives in that box and it was a good carbon steel knife but i cant remember if it was stamped gladestone MI or not.

You see the modern Marbles stuff from $25 to $450. Too sketchy I wouldn’t touch them. Too many Chinese rip offs on the internet. Just about every product is being copied
But man I love the originals.

So the guy at the Marbles tables insured me the long table I posted were all American made. He did have a few china knives on another table, like $35 knives. I did see some older ones that were stamped on the blade Gladstone Mi. I dont think I could lay out any serious money without being able to tell. He insisted he could tell but most people couldnt. Then again, knives was this old guys passion.
There were also a bunch of Bark River knives as well as one would expect since the show is in Bark River!
Also, the big buck rack came from PA.! I was a little disappointed, but the PA guys can be proud of that one.

If that rack's from PA I'm betting it came from a high fence pay to kill outfit. Not guaranteed but if I were a betting man I'd say a farm raised deer.

I have my Gramp's old brass compass and a trapper-style large folder in a leather case inside the original box tucked away. I wasn't aware any were made in China, I'll have to dig it out and see where it was made.

I`m guessing its older, its USA. I think that guy said early to mid 2000s they went to china. Somewhere along the line, Marbles filed bankruptcy and the cutlery got sold to a place in Tenn. That might have been the end of Marbles after that.
One thing I learned, I`m way out of touch with how much knives cost. $2-300 for a custom knife easy, and more for off the cuff looking. Ive had this for 25 years or so, not sure what it cost. $30-40 maybe? Its USA and works just fine :)
