I'll be the first to guess - 1969

Looks like a newer one to me. That not the classic hunter riser. The glass doesn't come down to the sight window.

Does look like HHO

Nice. Great weight.

Based on the shape of the riser, sometime in the 2000's.

It looks like the sight window is on the wrong side ;) Otherwise is sure is pretty!

2008 looks like mine.

Very nice woodwork- they do cast a nice arrow, definitely less than 20 years old

163rd Hunter made in 2009...

From: DanaC

If it's a 2009 shouldn't it have 'Martin' decals on it too? Also, what are the tips made of? A few more pix would help!

Hey, look at that--the same bow is on eBay now!

From: Pdiddly
Date: 09-Apr-21

WHOOPS!! I goofed!

DanaC is correct. The bow is a 1999. if it was a 2009 the first two numbers would be 09!

When trying to date Martin bows its helpful to shoe the tips.

1999

Dartwick...the serial number and the riser layup is very important but the tips are helpful for bows made between 1976-1985.

Just curious, what is a "classic" Hunter? That shape and series of risers shoots better than any I've ever shot. To me, that's classic.

My hunch--based on the prices people are willing to pay for them--is that the 1961-1965 HH's are the ones that most people would call the real classics. Rosewood risers, deeply sculpted, 3M glass, Urac glue, and not a flat surface to be found anywhere on the riser. They just have more of a handmade look to them.

Crookedstix echoed my opinion...the 1961-65 Hunters are what I think of as the classic, with simple yet elegant predecessor 1958-1960 walnut and rosewood risers a close second...

What years did Howatt make a 58” Hunter ?

danny...from 1976 ( when your bow was made) until the early 80’s.

The 58” Hunter was designed to replace the Hi-Speed. It was offered as an option.

This is what I think the classic Hunter looks like...1962.

A close second...the 1958-1960.

I say classic because these were the early ones.

Dana...very nice 1972!

The curved stripe risers made from 1972-1975 were very nice as well, and very popular as they premiered just before compounds hit the market.

I have a 58” Hi-Speed curved stripe that fits me like a glove and is one of my top five “ go to” bows.

I picked one up at a pawn shop yesterday in great condition. Now if I could get pictures to load off my phone I'd show her to you. The specs are 35#@28, 62" HH3413. She only has one straight accent line in the riser. Age please?

From: Pdiddly
Date: 11-Apr-21

Need to see pics. If the riser is laminated maple then it is a 1993.

If it is ovangkol then it is a 1983.

I had a 52 incher like that 58". Only shortie I ever owned. Liked it, but it came apart catastrophically.

Pdiddy Thanks

From: GLF

To me the classic hunter is all the bows with the original shaped riser. Sometime in the 90s they finally changed the riser design by ending the upper back limb glass at the top of the riser instead of at the shelf like every year since 62.
