What if any preparation do you use on carbon shafts prior to applying vinyl wraps?

I do nothing. Just put the wraps on then glue the fetching on.

I just wipe arrow with denature alcohol, than roll them on the arrow. Done!

Oh, I roll arrow on a magazine.

no alcohol, dawn dish liquid :)

and a mouse pad does help putting them on,

if you dont have one a magazine works sufficiently

I’ll try dawn and mouse pad

No prep. As others i use magazine or mouse pad. Never had a failure.

I wipe the shaft down with DNA at least. I use a mouse pad as well. If it’s a refletching job I use acetone on the shaft. I admit I am a chemical guy and use whatever is necessary to clean the shaft. I also do not buy into the theory the chemicals soften the shaft.

Never found they needed any prep. for wraps personally.

Like others, I usually give the shaft a quick wipe down with a rag damp with acetone. Takes just a few minutes to do a quick wipe down but it makes sure that the wraps get good adhesion to the shaft. Just got in some Gold Tip Warrior shafts that would leave carbon dust on your hands when handled before I cleaned them off.

Maybe depends on the carbon. Big Jim’s Dark Timber’s specifically say “do not use acetone”! My guess is it’s harmful to the graphics only but who knows?? Like others said you probably only need to wipe with a dry cloth.

I rub the shaft down with a dry paper towel and use a magazine to roll it.
